Our 7060 is an early power director model. It's our hay making, poo hauling tractor... bin in the family since new. Would we be happy with an 8050 power shift or do I need to look for an 8070 and do the pto conversion. As duel pto is a must!

I've got a 7060 powershift, and had an 8050 powershift (until it burned up), and I always thought that they were pretty comparable

Todd, I doubt either one of those jobs is working the 7060 to it's full capacity, I'm sure an 8050 would handle them well too. You may not like the laziness of the M100 governor though, but a PS will let you keep it wound up.

We bale with a vermeer 605m 5x6 baler. We put new belts in it this summer and it will make the 7060 work. Know keep in mind we are talking north of 16000 hours on the ole gal... so im sure she's tired...

Friend of mine has a 7060 PS and i have a 8050 PS, never noticed much of a difference between them power wise. Seems to me like the 7060 has a little less engine noise, a little more responsive, and might smoke a little more but nothing crazy noticeable. Never ran a power director but love the powershifts. We use our tractors for everything, tillage/planting/hay/manure and the powershifts work great.

An early maroon belly 7060 would have the very reliable good/simple floor gear shift. So no cable issues for it.
Your 16,000 hrs 670I, PD, dual pto, etc combo speaks for itself. Someday I may own an 8000 series? Think, I’d love their comfortable roomy cabs. Or, maybe just install an 8000 cab onto my 7060 cause I love its throttle snappiness & very good torque. |
