Chasing down a refrigerant leak, took cab roof panel off, cleaned things up while it was open and now getting things ready to paint and reseal. The roof panel is completely flat except for around the 3 center bolts along each side. The area around those 6 bolt holes are all dimpled down making it appear they may have been pressed that way in the manufacturing process. They all appear to be a uniform shape. Before I paint it, or flatten out the dimples, can anyone verify whether the area surrounding those 3 center holes on each side were flat or dimpled from the factory? Thanks.

This may be the incorrect way of going about this but all of our 8000’s get to sit outdoors more than indoors or under a shelter so I’ll tell you that from my experience which may not pertain to you. But my 8070 started leaking (both 8030 have for awhile) so i noticed the same thing as you. I flatted the dimples out which I think just happened over time from the retainers. Then I used silicone on the complete perimeter and around all the retainer bolts/screws. It hasn’t leaked since. Im in the slow process of working on one of the 8030”s. When I get finished putting the headliner in I will do the same thing. It’s a great cab but the way it is sealed up is not perfect by any means. I didn’t paint mine but honestly I don’t think you would even notice the way I sealed it up unless your on top of the cab. I didn’t glob it all over I just sealed around the bolts and any place I thought water could leak in. My 8070 is a joy to jump in now since it doesn’t leak or have water sitting somewhere in the cab when I jump in it after a rain storm.

Thank you for the reply Brian. You can't argue with success, sounds like your issue got solved.
After trying several methods to find my refrigerant leak with no success, I ended up putting dye in the system. Only problem with that method is that I'll more than likely have to remove the cover again once I've run it for awhile  to look for the leak.
So in order to keep the project moving, I made a 35 mile drive to Anderson Tractor Supply in Blufton, OH this morning. Back when A-C closed the doors, Anderson bought a bunch of their leftover new cabs for the 8000 Series tractors. So to answer my question for sure, I went to see for myself. You were correct to flatten out the dimples, as all of the cab covers on their new cabs were completely flat, even the cover on a takeoff cab was flat. Apparently at some point someone had over torqued those six bolts on mine where the nylon HVAC tub has notches in it, and that deformed the metal. They could have passed for being factory as all six were uniform. So once we get a day without rain and high humidity I'll give my FLAT cover a coat of paint and new seal and washers. Thanks again!

I’ll give you another idea that my nephew thought of that works great. Since the condenser is hanging aways from the fan he thought about putting an electric fan on the condenser and it’s wired into the a/c power switch. It works great. He found a fan that fit perfectly on the condenser and is moves quite abit of volume

I guess I'm unaware of that style. I have an 8010, 2-8050's and an 8070. All have completely flat roof coveres with 2 9/16 head lag style bolts in the inner part and a row of 11/16 head fine thread bolts with rubber/neoprene and stainless steel washers around the perimeter. My tractors are fortunate to be under roof 99% of the time but still have not had problems with leaks.

IIRC the bolts are outside the gasket. The bolt and washers should have some sealant to keep any water from getting through but I think all bolt holes are outside of interior so even if they leaked the water should not get inside the cab. The gasket leaking is where the problem is. I had doped the bolts on one 8070 and still had water inside after good rain. After replacing the gasket and sealing the bolts it has stayed dry. I bought the AGCO gasket ($$$$) only to find it was nothing more than hardware store sponge gasket. My original was so flattened it just wouldn't seal. This was my experience. Your results may vary. Those roof bolts are 17mm ? metric so a 11/16 SAE fits.

Just removed my top off my 8030 which was leaking terrible anytime it rains. Neoprene washers are junk and bolts threads are rusty. Gasket is worn but I don’t see any trace of water going under the gasket. Getting new bolts washer and gaskets and then silicon to seal it up. I’m not chancing it with a new headliner and cab kit. Water also got into the center holes that have screws into the plastic. Water couldn’t get out, froze and crack the plastic so those screws will not be able to tightened properly.

So I resealed to roof top and it rained abit this morning. It looks like I have water creeping through the rear window also. Does anyone know if that seal is available? I’ve replaced the door seals on my 8070 and used product from the auto parts store. I can use that I suppose for the rear window but I’d rather used a factory seal on the rear window if I could.

All 18 metric bolts are inside the perimeter seal, so the reinforced rubber washer condition is important.  The two center "lag bolt" type bolts also require a rubber washer underneath and on top the cover. If my nylon threads broke out or striped on the two center bolts, I'd probably repair it with an epoxy and some stainless steel threaded inserts. I was able to get an OEM cab seal through a dealer search, as supposedly it's not available from AGCO any more. After looking at that seal, I thought about going with a hollow type seal w/adhesive back. I'm eyeing several at McMaster-Carr. The 16 outer metric bolts are available through AGCO at $3.59 each. Would probably be better to replace the OEM with stainless steel though. Also my 1/4" black foam insulation was old, torn and sagging. I bought some 5' square Prodex (NOT bubble wrap) insulation to replace it. Should be a big improvement there. Just some thoughts.
