every site, 3 that I have checked,  that has serial number list says my B is a 1942. This site says it is a 1941  Who is correct? 

It is number 56839

i think if you read this site DATA real close, you will see that the years befor 1950 or so,  were listed as the LAST serial numbe that year.... 1937 for the model B lists sn 96... that was the LASTS tractor that year... in 1941 the LAST tractor is about 60 less than your sn.. So yours was probably built in January of 1942...

Later model tractors are listed by the BEGINNING sn for the year..

Thanks Steve. I had to go back to the 1910s list to see that they are ending numbers. But how many people would start at the 1910s?

Yours is a '42 as serial numbers for that year ran from 56782 to 61400.
