Recycled Crap, best have gotten is Five years in the 180 at minimal use, just changed the unit in the 2010 Impala, made 4 years 1 month since last swap.
KW will need 4 before vacation to Black Hills this summer, are just coming to Four years. Same for our motorcycle. Changed those in my Pickup two years back and the one in Wife’s car last year.
Sellers note the recycled junk will only carry a One Year to at most Two year warranty, are NO lead cell batteries being made with Fresh Lead, some are concerned recycling is not separating materials clean enough. NOT Buying a Li Any blend battery for the vehicles, notable fire hazards.

I'm giving a couple of AGM types usage now in the dozer. Had several sets make 10+ years in standby generator service before retiring. Wet cells didn't last all that long with the chassis mounted battery racks so went AGM and they seemed to tolerate it well.

battery life went downhill once they eliminated the caps. With no way to check electrolyte levels and high powered alternators, it's a death sentence. High charge rates can 'boil' off the acid and water., just a little at a time but once it's gone, it's GONE.Seems it only takes '5 years' and time for a new battery.

Our Harley has a AGM, lasted longer than the standards, those would only go two years, this one three. As of the last purchase priced a AGM for the Chevy, could not stomach the price, over $240 even as typical Lead Acid was $170, Group 31s in the semi and the 180 will remain Lead Acid for now as well as replacement AGMs double the cost and not the life.

Replaced a tractor battery last fall that was 10 years old. Just pulled two out of a different tractor 9 years old. Not bad for the cold we get.

I went the $$$ for the AGM in the dozer solely based on the vibration factor. I keep nearly everything on maintainers any longer and the life seems to do fairly well. I have a single 4D series in an International semi tractor used for a yard horse and it replaces four group 31 series and it does well also.
I tend to not care too much about lables and if the cells are accessible they are checked periodically. Always distilled water, or sulfuric acid if top off is required. I have a "Leica" refractometer for solution specific gravity evaluation and it works well being much more accurate than the floating balls, or swinging needle type testers.

First Group 31s I installed new in the 180 went 8 years, the next set just over four, this set should make another two.

I replaced the F150 and Edge batteries at 6 years... Still working, but i dont trust them for winter use.. Buy most at Wal Mart 3 year type.. Have bought a couple at local Hardware or Farm Store with similar life.. I do put a trickle charge on the ones that set all winter..

I trended batteries for a lot of years when maintaining/repairing standby generator sets, so continue the trend into retirement. I have a 1000A carbon pile for the purpose and use it routinely. A battery that is getting short on lifespan will readily reveal itself with one of these.
We were mandated to replace starting batteries on a four year rotation whether they tested good or not. All the systems I worked with backed up aviation navigation equipment so they really did need to start when commercial power failed......
Seen a lot of starting batteries work very well until the first cold snap of the year comes forth in automobiles then not start the vehicle. A carbon pile load test readily reveals this oncoming failure prior to it stranding anyone if it's done.

On 2015 Jeep Cherokee got 10 years on Original battery - but around 2008 the stop start system kept showing it was not working - asked about it to service writer at dealership - said it was a major fix and cost around $500 - well when I replaced the battery that went dead in below 0 F - system started working again . Nothing said about showing battery was weak mentioned by service writer .
Replacement battery from Sam's Club - 3 year full replacement warranty- then expires . Seems a lot of the new batteries have go to that system rather than longer warranty and pro rating .
In motorcycles I bought 2 from CHROME BATTERY online - good price and extended warranty . Good selection on smaller batterie sizes .

To each his own and I don't own anything that relies on computers that run everything possible in a vehicle, so my results may not apply to most that just have to have the latest techolagy. For more than 30 years I've been buying ALL of my batteries from a local battery store. Previously was just getting whatever from CT, TSC or what ever was the cheapest wherever I was. I learned that a good PROPERLY working charging system was paramount to battery life. I fixed all of my sometimes good/sometimes not charging systems and replaced most all of the battery cables with good heavy cables. Also I never buy High priced/premium hi cranking amp batteries. They have a tighter packed grid in the same size case and will short out faster when sulfation starts to develop in the grid. Just like rusting rims from having fluid filled tires: It's not if it will happen, but when. I always get the lowest CCA of the size battery available. Since I've started doing these things I always seem to get more than the advertised life of any given battery. The last Group 31 I had in my 1989 Dodge Diesel was a 5 year battery, that was in the truck for nearly 6 years and is now in my pulling tractor still doing the job, with no problem in sight. The 3 Group 31 batteries in my GMC Astro with the NTC Cummins are now going on 5 years old and I don't see any issues on the horizon. Everything else 12 volt has a group 22 and if the cars start to show problems they get the new battery and the batteries from them get moved to the tractors. Another key issue is battery maintenance. If you let terminals get corroded, you're just asking for trouble.
