Ran a couple hundred miles this morning to grab this auction purchase. Wll set it onto a 2015 Chevy pickup converting to a service truck. Will be so much more useful than the existing pickup bed. This bed and crane has very little usage and is extremely clean so should serve well.

No idea to actual weight but I wouldn't think more than 3500# from the way it pulled on the trailer. I'll know later today when I pick it off with the gantry as I have a dynomometer, (crane scale) for the purpose. Will probably need to slip a leaf into the right rear spring pack along with longer "U" bolts to support the crane unit. Bed is Knapheid and crane is a Stellar which are both good names. I'm told was only in service about a year when something catastrophic happened to the truck.

Cell phone camera only works when it wants yet gives the appearance of normalcy for a spell. Pictures revert to an unsupported format so new phone time, (again).

3720# hanging from the hook. Gantry didn't even break a sweat. Hardest point was finding a "pick" point to lift the off center load/bed level. I lifted it clear of the trailer deck and backed another cab and chassis under using a couple of rectangular tubes to straddle the frame as different width spacings.

Bed is so heavy with that crane it was actually lifting the tubes just off the left frame rail of the chassis cantilevering on the right rail. I clamped it down with eight welding clamps so it won't go anyplace till I'm ready for the conversion.

Memory card seems to have died in phone. Found an extra at home and seems to work well again though ultimately too small of capacity.

Crane dynomometer:

Going to need a bed stretcher as it seems a bit short.

Tubes used to set bed onto/span frame are shown here:

Manual stiff leg jack for support:

Lot easier to move around setting on this chassis till ready to convert the pickup next week at the earliest. Ordering lamps and hardware to mount this down to the receiving chassis later this evening. Haven't looked at anything electrical yet so no idea what is in store there. Probably beyond my wildest comprehension...... Should be a nice setup once completed.

1957 B-61T. 5&3. I've owned since 4/79 and purchased from original owner. Engine is original and never apart except routine maintenance. Still have original rear suspension and rear axle but rerailed the truck and installed a Rockwell SQHP rear rear on Pete "Air Leaf". Rides much better.

Not with a stiff leg and corner mount crane. That stiff leg is actually a smallerized semi trailer landing gear. They work well and I've installed several but mostly convert to hydraulic operation.

Bed is actually going onto a 2015 3500 Silverado pickup replacing the pickup box that is rusting out. They need another service truck and a pickup box really doesn't serve too well in the operation. I set it onto my Mack so it can be moved easily till the other truck is ready for the conversion.

It is a weldment to the back DOT type bumper in the rear. Mounts on the extreme end of the support. I've seen several types supplied with cranes but haven't worked with this one at all. I'll be out there tomorrow and look at it. It was cut off the frame stubs of the original chassis and set on the bed. I assume that crane is 360 degree rotation but do not know that either.
