What an interesting man Herb.
I first met him as i was driving on I-75 in north Georgia. I was hauling a few Allis Chalmers tractors on my trailer, when this crazy person pulled up along side of me waving his hand in a motion for me to pull over... Thinking something was wrong, i pulled over. It was Herb.... He was just interested in what i was hauling and wanted to talk Allis Chalmers.... That was a beginning of our friendship. We spoke frequently on the phone and he often asked me to haul things or bring items back from Pennsylvania or the Missouri swap meets... From the time i first met Herb, he was in bad phisical shape with a serious slump, But his mental sharpness and ziel for life was impressive. He would say, i don't move as fast as i used too but i still get things done ! They aren't making men like Herb any more... |

Sorry to hear that. He hauled his D14 all the way up to Kentucky for me to put power steering on and a couple other things I fixed on it. He was an interesting man and very smart.
