Yes: There was an aftermarket 2 speed that was either overdrive on underdrive. The underdrive is just want you're looking for if you've gone to big tall tires and don't have the power for them.
  Find a set of tires that will work for what little power you have and you'll do just as well in the long run.  I've encountered many that swear that to beat those with tall tires, you must also have tall tires. I call BULL$HIT on that. You MUST have tires that work with your available HP, Gear ratio, Balance and track conditions.
  I pulled a CA for nearly 30 years and could consistently beat Oliver 66s and Farmall C/SuC and Case VACs with my 24" tires.  
 Unless you're pulling on the same track with the same weather condition and same preparation each time it will take a lot of track reading and different size tires to find something that works, but after you do all the clubs will start changing the rules on you like they did to me. 
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.

wondering about taking some gears and shafts out of awd trans and seeing what icould come up with and fab a case for them
