I am new on here, but, I just bought and got home a 1949 D motor grader. Drove it 7 miles home after some TLC.   I also own a HD4 loader.
the grader seems to be pretty straight it is plain Jane no lean wheel or power circle.  I plan to restore it, but it will also get usage it shaping up some terraces and finishing a waterway.  s/n is D 446 with the engine s/N  WD237353GA it appears it has been repainted twice both times yellow.  Question> should I go back to the original Orange or stay with the yellow?

Welcome to the Forum Greg !!... NICE looking grader... are those tires as good of condition as they look in the photo ?  ......... when looking for engine parts, you know the motor is the same as the WD farm tractor..
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Sweet old grader! I would love to have one but have never had enough of an excuse to get one... Figure I should get small dozer or track loader, like what you already had with your HD4. What are your plans for the grader?

And welcome!

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see your text below your picture about terraces/waterways. I like it.

My opinion is if you are going to paint it, put it back to original. Otherwise I'd lose no sleep leaving it as-is.

thank you, guys, yes, the tires are that good. the rears still had air in them although a bit low after setting almost 10 years in the barn.  the fronts came with it but had to buy tubes for them. it also came with a set of tire chains, which I will never use.  it also came with everything to install a S10 power steering unit minus hoses.  the front axle oscillation joint needs rebuilt, lift cylinders need resealed. and the engine needs some help. runs good but has no power. checked compression and all cylinders are around 70 psi. So, I will probably put an overhaul kit in it. I paid $1300 for it so I have some room to spend some money on it to make it nice.   Any suggestions or thoughts will be appreciated.
I have been around ACs all my we farmed and owned a C, CA, WC, WD, 190XT, and a model D that got sold 20 years ago.
