I'm like ole Thad,,,I like the Rotiserrie chickies at Walmart for just bout everything,,,cause there ain't NO WAY you can cook Chickies that I don't like,,,,!!!
Oh,,and Steve,,,I'm thinking that the Buffalo fish are closer to the carp than catfish,,,?
Back when I was still going to school, there was this Black family that used to go fishing 4-5 times a week,,FOR CARP! They made little dough balls from regular white bread and would always catch lots of carp and sometimes a few Buffalo. They would use the Buffalo for cut bait for catfish and eat all the carp. Their son Arthur was my close friend as he was a rough and ROWDY guy and loved to fight!!  2-3 times a week, Arthur would come over with a handful of Carp filets and trade me 2 for 1. Two pieces of Carp for ONE flour tortilla,,,Clap

My Grandfather on Dad’s side learned the art to scoring carp and buffalo for the major amounts of fine hair like bones in them. Bottom feeders much as Cats where meat tends to be tastier than other fish, just had to be cooke right or wash tough to eat. Used to be a restaurant across the Mississippi from Kampsville Mo, specialty was Carp and Buffalo sammitches, best I ever had!! Now long gone out of business.

Just smoked a batch of Buffalo.  Yep they are a first cousin to carp.  I prefer smoked carp, but Buff is the only thing I can find for sale in central IL (Peoria).

We referred to 'em as Buffalo Carp, but as others noted, they're not actually a 'carp'.  They eat lots of algae, so slow-moving water is where they frequent.  Bowfishing is the 'fun' way, but if you're looking for a way to catch them for food, put a piece of sweet corn on a hook, with a small weight up about 6", and you'll need a garbage can on a 2-wheel cart to get 'em home.
Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.

Yep we call them Buffalo Carp as well, I didn't realize there were smallmouth and bigmouth until my friends nephew caught a state record a couple years ago, it was a Bigmouth Buffalo and weighed 62lbs and something like 4 ft long. Shocked

He was fishing for largemouth bass, I think a rattletrap but can't remember and was using 10 or 12lb test!  It took a long time to land him. LOL

To put 2 million birds in context, that would run the plant we sell to for almost 2 1/2 weeks. There's a plant in Dalton that I understand runs about 5 million a week. The occurrences of bird flu in commercial operations I'm aware of are usually caused by carelessness on the growers or growers employees parts. Typically what we hear is somebody went hunting and stepped in infected poo then went to their farm and walked in wearing the same shoes. It's that simple to cause and to prevent

Hudco....' decontamination process'..does that mean they won't be in business that long ??

If so I can see a HUGE increase in chicken as more and more plant/farms have to shutdown..... 'tip of the iceburg'.

Wednesday I was in the commissary at Scott Air Force Base.  They had 10 lb bags of legs with thighs for $5 and change.  Yessirree, that was 1/2 a buck a pound.  Wink
