Sandy Lake Implement and Brenda are second to none.  Class act and totally understand what servicing customers needs are all about.  Never a question as to who I seek help from first.

I can’t believe you’d support someone several states away when we so many great Agco dealers here in Michigan.  Rebuilt the steering control valve on my 6080 and after I reinstalled it it didn’t act right.   Called my go to dealer and asked if I boxed it up and sent it them how far out they are.   Service manager said he’d gladly work on it but coached me on how to time it.  He easily could have said send it and did the 10 minute fix and send it back and charged a couple hours and I’d been none the wiser.  In no particular order I’ve dealt with Cards bros, Pell’s, Farm Depot, Williams, Gillison’s and Dick Coulter over the years of that list I have a favorite but content with all of them.   People complain about Agco having a lack of dealer network it’s guys like you who don’t support their local dealer that makes the problem worse.

If I’m going to send my dollars out of state it will be to Mayer’s - Chris has coached us a few times or tbran Tim solved the turret auger ball spitting dilemma over the phone.

I knew good 'ol victory wouldn't stand for any appreciation being shown for good service.

I don't think I have seen any of the dealers he mentioned advertising on this site, but SLI has forever.

I have dealt with Sandy Lake and I have no complaints but do agree it is nice to support local if possible. I have a local dealer here that has been great - Maple Lane farm service. Exchange here in Canada is tough on the wallet. If we can get it here it saves a fair bit. Kudos to all on this site who support us and give free advice. Keep in mind that they do not have to do that. Maple Lane is in Mt. Forest Ont. Thanks.

I’ll give Sandy a lake credit for one thing they spent their advertising dollar where it created a following good ROI on their part. As long as it’s not at an abortion clinic I couldn’t care less where my dealer advertises. But I breakdown at 11:45 on a Saturday it’s not like I can drive to Pennsylvania and be back running yet that day. Coulter’s, Card’s, have William’s set out parts for me.   Nothing against Sandy Lake my push is SUPPORT LOCAL if your in Michigan call a MI dealer, in Iowa call Marshalltown, in Pennsylvania call Sandy.   Wake up the lack of dealer network hurts Agco.

My local AGCO dealer is great and I buy a lot of stuff from them, but they were never an Allis Chalmers dealer and are quick to admit that they don't know much about AC parts. If I walk in with part numbers, they are quick to get it or tell me that it is no longer available.

With that said, I agree with everyone saying that Brenda at SLI is great. More than once, I have called her for a part and she has recommended also changing another part while I was that far into a repair. She also has told me that a part that I need is only available aftermarket, but they had availability or had it in stock.

Back in the 70's and 80's our local dealer had a parts lady (Florence Debyah) that was excellent, but she and the dealership, have been gone for many years.

I'm probably retarded for stepping into this but I find it kinda funny you say all that in the first paragraph and then justify how you, yourself, would spend money outside your state with Mayer because of how well they treated you. Hypocrisy anyone? Wink

Just don't have them work on your tractor. I am a local and took a tractor to get valve job and they quoted 900 bucks, went to pick up month later and they wanted around 1300, I was mad but paid. Started tractor in their parking lot and head gasket leaked, went back inside said they messed up, they said would fix but cost more, another month or so and now wanted more money, they said original quote did not include head gasket so had to charge more for parts. How do you do a valve job without replacing head gasket? I don't remember exact total now because it was over 15 years ago but was more than double original quote. I will never pay them another cent.

I support my local Agco dealer because they were a AC dealer years ago, but I also support SLI. Brenda and her staff have helped me numerous times when others can’t. Not sure why anyone would bash an advertiser that supports this site. Brenda and SLI are not only a former Agco dealer but they support this site and have provided many of us with parts to carry on our hobby. I have also become friends over the years of business, There are few dealers/businesses that will go to the extent of finding parts for me as SLI. I am so thankful to the entire staff at SLI for helping me with my hobby farm equipment over many years.

Just providing my personal experience, they may be the best agco parts dealer in the world, but they did me wrong when I had them work on my tractor.

I understand your disappointment, we have all been disappointed in one way or another from repairs from dealers or independent techs. Tractors or cars, no one is perfect. I have a great mechanic working on my vehicle, it’s going back to him next week because I’m still having the same issue after 30-40 minutes of run time. Certainly not going to throw him under the bus because of a difficult diagnoses that seams to have a mind of its own. I get it, we expect perfection, we just need to realize we are all human and may not get it right the first time. I can honestly say I certainly don’t.

In the beginning I bought from Brenda and Betty at Sandylake. They always knew what I needed and treated me right. Then I discovered McKimm in Oskaloosa Ia but their parts guys aren’t very good on old A-C stuff. Then I found Central Iowa Farm Store in my backyard and Reed and Matt there always know what I’m after and treat me right too.
I’ve also talked to Jim Palmer Jr and he’s just as good. If he doesn’t have it, but sees it at another dealer he’ll give you their number to call direct. The only reason I don’t call Sandylake is Reed, Matt, and Jim are much closer.

Nothing sets the tone like when someone calls and says "I've looked everywhere for this part"! Now calling you last resort lol! I have a great friend local that is an AGCO parts only dealer, was MM then Oliver, White, I even worked there almost 30 years ago. Supporting your local dealer is obviously the first choice, it helps keep them there, like Victory said. So many people no longer have a dealer local anymore, same is happening with the diesel injection business. I get stuff from all over, because many local shops either are incompetent, and expensive, or simply closed up. From all the good things I hear on here about how great Brenda is, it really is what every dealer's parts personnel should be like, but those great parts people are getting far and few between. Jim is the same way, knows the products inside and out! I've always said the best parts person is a mechanic!

If I need to ORDER anything from AGCO, I prefer to order from a place the has someone on the parts counter that knows what they are talking about and most likely has what I need in stock ready to ship. For me Sandy lake is the place as UPS will generally have things on my doorstep from there the next day if I call early. As for buying local, I'm all for it, if what I want is in stock.  To me knowledge and service gets my business. If I have to run all over the county looing for a generic item that anyplace would normally have had a few years ago, but no longer is stocked, that is a waste of my time and gas. A place can't sell what they don't have.
Now when you're looking for an obsolete part, Brenda is hard to beat Thumbs Up

Was bored. Drove up there for a part. Had it on the shelf. If I order early enough in the day I get it the NEXT DAY from the USPS. Kinda hard to beat that.

Brian, the bad news about this is, Matt retired around the first of the year. Reed is still there but is getting closer to retirement too. I'm not sure what his plans are, hope he hangs in there. The good news is, they have done a great job bringing along some younger guys. Brandon does some farming and knows his stuff. I like talking to him.
