Does the "washer" on the drain plug wear out ?? The plug on my current buggy (5.4) is seeping and I'm afraid to torque it down any tighter  . Thanks

Yes, they can. It’s not very common. Of all the vehicle I’ve owned over the years, I have only replaced one, and that was one of those ‘plastic’ ones that GM used years ago. Never have had a copper one fail(yet).

Most folks use a crush washer and replace it every oil change.

One of the vehicles I own, if I buy the filter at the dealer (rarely, but happens), it comes with a new washer taped to the filter? I wonder why?

I think the cooper will stretch over many times of use. I would replace every so often.

Yeah, learn how to read, exactly, BECAUSE A DRAIN PLUG WASHER COMES TAPED TO THE FILTER GENIUS! As in, you put a new washer on when changing the oil. Is that hurtful and confusing for you?

Why do you even bother with changing the oil. At that mileage on a 5.4 you shouldn't have to. Just keep pouring new in.

My god I don’t know if you’re more dense, more argumentative, or more stubborn. One more time. I’m not talking about the filter gasket. The GASKET is in the groove in the gasket like any other filter you would buy from anywhere on planet EARTH. A WASHER, FOR THE DRAIN PLUG., is taped to the top of the filter. THATS WHY I MENTIONED IT!!! Comprende???
