Were there any up grades between the 2 models?  will either interchange with each other?  The wd is stuck in gear again

They are different between WD and 45.             MACK

Your problem is in the pivot area or the tip of the lever or both.  if you could get ahold of a less worn trans top complete,it would likely cure your problem. Lon(M) may have one.

 You should be able to rebuild the WD version similar to what I did on a WD45 shift tower too. Taking it apart and carefully examining the components for wear and then welding and finishing back to size could solve 95% of the issues. Those have one side pin in the tower. If you can add a second pin, (which engages the ball of the shifter) that can help too.
I remember that these had issues in the mid 60's when the tractors were only 10 years old. But most of our issues were with the 45's.
All the WD's I have had seem to be more stout in that area. (never rebuilt a internal shift tower on one of those)
Yes as mentioned it could be the ball shape on the end of the shift lever too.
Take the shift lever out. get a good light to look down into the top and a big long screw driver or small bar and move the shifter forks around and look for wear and the not so good clearance that would allow the ball of the lever to pass through, between the forks. Then plan the repair.

A few years ago someone posted on here a drawing with the measurements of the ball on the bottom on the bottom of the shifting lever. That is what usually wears and needs to be rebuilt. Maybe someone can find it and post it for you.

Think that was the constant mesh trans but probably much alike.
