Sitting here in NW Missouri, corner of 1-29 and 159, I think. hundreds of Pellicans gathering up to migrate. They must be 99% female. Flying around in circle after circle, up and down, splitting off from the group, sorta like the old gals driving. I thought they might be geese but the people assured us they were pellicans off the Missouri River.

Are worse on the Mississippi, especially on the Locks impoundments. Have seen them all the way up past the IA MO Line in massive flocks. Seems they found feeding easier as came up river from the Gulf and stayed.

I've never seen them before and about a month ago there was a flock circling over head. Kinda freaked me out. I'm 20 miles from the bay of Green Bay and about the same from Lake Michigan.
