Hello, I have located a 5040 allis that's for sale by second owner. Tractor seems in good shape good tires and doesn't seem to have any leaks. My question is what is a fair price on the tractor and is this series a good tractor , it would be used to rake hay cut hay and things of that nature.

I ask for any input from folks that have or have had one of these, also is parts available . I thank you in advance for any help

Again Thanks
Rodd

I have owned one for two years and have used it to cut, rake, and bale hay. It was built in Romania by the same people that brought us Long Tractors. I haven’t had to buy anything for mine but don’t see a problem with getting parts. I love mine and enjoy using it. I have used a Tar River BR165 drum mower behind it. And I have pulled my new holland 273 baler behind it and raked with my John Deere 640 rake. Decent paint and tires with low hours I would say between $3500-$5000 depending upon location

I owned one for a little over 6 years and it was mostly used for mowing.
It has a 2-stage clutch.
It came with an AC 400 loader.
The live hyd pump for it is bolted into the tractor at the rear.
I bought a 6' King Cutter rotary mower for it.
Performed flawlessly.  Very good on fuel !  PS is great.
Very stout little 40hp tractor.

Only a few things needed attention;  brake adj, clutch adj, and fuel filter.
(Re the fuel filter; make sure you follow procedure in manual)
I think you can still get a op manual for the 5040; it is quite detailed.
I did put a block heater on it.  Surprisingly, CarQuest had the correct one.
But, I notice you're in KY, so probably not an issue.

The front grill or snout is kinda fragile, it won't take a lot of abuse.

I have 2 of the 5040 tractors they had been used hard when I bought them  but still gave
good service.Basically the same tractor as the Oliver 1265 and the Long 445 with one shift lever and a 6 speed.Think late models had the 2 lever 8 speed like the 5050 and the 460 Long.Tough motors and very good on fuel.Parts as easy to find on ebay and at Import Tractor and the parts are less expensive than with most other tractors these days.I have a
couple Long 445 and a 5040 for parts. As said the grill is usually missing or busted up,the aftermarket grille for the Olivers and Long will fit the 5040 and looks better than the original AC grill in my opinion.

I had one until 2 years ago when I had a stroke, open heart surgery, and then skin cancer and the boys told me I needed to sell it. It had a 400 loader on it and was in fair shape, I sold it for $4900.00. Ihad it for 8 years and the only thing I had to do to it was seal 1 lift cylinder.
