OK, I'll admit I'm a village idiot on some things, but what does NOS relating to a repair item mean?

It dose stand for New Old Stock .But dose not always mean it is original equipment from AC,IH etc. , it could still be aftermarket items that have just been around a long time .Got to watch how some people list items if buying off e-bay ..

Don't git all giddy because it is NOS or NIB. I have bought NOS stuff and it is so shelf worn that the used part I had was in better shape. NOS or NIB usually means that it was never installed, you can have a NOS piece that is rusty and crusty but becuase it was a factory piece and never installed it is still "NOS".
I have several old cars and NOS usually means parts from the original supplier, NORS (new old replacement stock) is the companies that made the replacement or service parts from that same era, like Gabriel or Monroe shocks when it originally came with MOPAR, GM or Ford branded parts off the assembly line.

How bout' "F*#$n' old rusty dog. That was what we used to call em' round here. When I was a kid, I worked in a Sunoco station. There was an Esso station down the street which was our competition at the time. (before it became Exxon-dating myself here) We used to say: Esso- "Every Sucker Stops Once"... We used to call Studebakers "Stupidbakers" because of some of the mixed matched engineering on the older models. They were tough old vehicles though I havta' say... Steve@B&B

Deere fans would say the 4 cylinders use so much gas that the sound they made was nickelnickelnickelnickel........... The comeback was a 2 banger sounded like twooooobitstwobitstwobits... twooooobitstwobitstwobits
