I should have listened to everyone on the forum. I had gotten the Holley
carb for the 190 working really well. Then we had forgotten to clean out
the gas lines and the gunk in the lines went into the carb. Now, it works
like they always do. Anybody want to buy a nice clean Holley?Smile
Soo, anybody have a used Zenith that will fit? The core charge
without a core to trade in is $150. Didn't really want to spend $500 for
a carburetor. Does anyone know of a place that will sell a rebuilt outright
without a core?

Give Jim Leitenberger a call with Treadwell Carburetor Company as he works on everything, big and small, old and newer: 607-829-8321.
I am very pleased with work he has done for me, he run tests units for set-up and running settings before shipped, and it will also look better than new.

I don't see the big  issue...
Take carb off tractor, tear down, clean, reassemble, install. easy, peezy couple of hours...
What  WILL take time is properly cleaning the gas tank, sediment bowl and gas line.
I've only got 5 decades of carbs but never met one I couldn't get running like new be they for mowers, rides, jags, jeeps or stangs.

My one ninety has a holly on it, and I am kind of liking it now. Only thing I ever had against it was that it floods so easily when starting up. I have a little better juice flowing to the starter now, and it starts up pretty good. That thing will idle so smooth that you can't hardly tell that it's running, and has plenty of power when ya need it. I too, was looking for a zenith, but I think that unless something changes, I'm going to stick with my Holly. Darrel

The people that think “Holleys” are junk, don’t understand them. They have an “accelerator pump” that is prone to sticking. Many of them also have a “power valve” that will give you problems if it’s not working properly. If you don’t know what you’re doing with them and are unwilling to learn, best send it to a professional that knows what they’re doing. I prefer them for pulling motors, because of the ease of tuning them. The main jet is a standard “Holley” jet.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

There's a guy here in Fulton,Mo that is outstanding on Holly carbs, both racing and highway use, truck or car. I'll get his number for you if interested.
