 Topic: Shoup Cab Kits?

What do you guys think about them? The back panel in the cab of the L3 fell apart a long time ago, and I've never given much thought to it (Especially since it's still quieter in the cab than a Deere 6600 with all of its insulation intact, speaking from experience). However, I was in another L3 this past summer that still had all the insulation, and boy what a difference! You could hear a whisper in there. It really woke me up as to how loud this other L3 is without that back panel. That being said, I'm ready to do something about it, because it has been accused by others of being crazy noisy. What do you guys think about the Shoup kits? Are they as good or better than the OEM material? They look good, but are pretty expensive. I've also heard of people doing other things, like installing a thick carpet pad or using a piece of heavy carpet for sound-deadening material. What do you guys think? I'd rather have the Shoup kit because it looks right (original saddle tan color) but if there are other, cheaper options, they might be taken into consideration. Thanks!

Shoup kits are made by Hy-capacity. I bought one for my 8550 but haven't installed it yet,pieces look good and hopefully they fit good. I plan on getting a kit for my M2 since the headliner is falling down and constantly shedding on me.

I put a Hy-capacity kit in my 7010 about 6 years ago. The pieces fit well.
I had hoped that they would have lasted well also, but the covering has peeled away from the foam on most of the pieces, and the foam itself is dry rotting and crumbling. The tractor has always been stored in a shed.
This is my only experience with this, and may not be typical, and/or they could have improved the product by now.
This was not a fun project and I dread doing it again. I hope there are better options for the foam, but I don't know of any right now. I would pay more to do this less often.

Funny thing is even though the back crumbled and fell off, the headliner is just fine still.

I put a cab kit in my 7050 in the late 1990's and it still looks perfect. I bought the kit from k & m. It was a good kit back then. Brother's 7030 got the same kit a few years later and it still looks good too.

I hope my kit doesn't start coming apart, the kit has been sitting in my basement for a year and a half now waiting for me to get new window seals and the A/C working. Time always gets away from me and I have to many projects going on.

I use ferh cab kits, put one in an 8000 series 6 years ago and still looks good. I put a hy capacity kit in an 7080 bout 10 years ago and the vinyl covering started peeling back after 3 or 4 years. Ferh also is a little cheaper on prices and they send really good glue along with the kits.

Fehr cab kits are really nice. They are making the mat'l in house and have excellent quality control. Don't think you will be seeing it separate and start to crumble after a few years. Nice people to deal with as well. Ron is the fellow that started the company. He told me they were suppliers to Allis for the original cab interiors for the 8000 series. As much work as it is to really do a cab well it's not worth a few bucks just to have it fall apart in a short time. Ask Ivan where he gets his kits.

I put thick carpet in the cab of my "G", and boy that made a difference with noise, dust, and heat. and I could chose any color I wanted!

Shameless, did you put it on the cab wall too, or just the floor? A buddy of mine put a piece in the floor of his new Kubota, and that worked wonders. I've seen where people have glued it to the ceiling and back wall of combines, but would that work as good as what's "supposed" to be there? Maybe if it had a carpet pad behind it?

make sure whatever you use, that it has the jute backing, the glue will hold it better, if it has the foam backing, it won't stay on long. the glue will either melt the foam, or the vibrations will tear the foam away from the carpet and it will fall.
