I'm guessing these aren't correct but just want to make sure this isn't something some of you IB guys have seen in the past. The alternator bracket looks very well made. I mean they even cut it to match the curve of the front support plate on the front of the engine. Also, has anyone seen these little plates on thr outside of the frame before. Guessing those aren't correct. More pics and questions to come.

Not original but nicely done. IIt originally came with a 6 volt generator and a "U" shaped bracket mounted to the bosses on the side of the engine. The patch on the side of the "U" channel is not original either.

Wow! That bracket could hold up a bridge! That's some Alternator bracket! Talk about HD. Nicely done. The bracket on the other side is an add-on to. Somebody liked to weld.

Sure would like to have 1 to put on dads 39B with no holes in the block for a genny. Does look good.

Can someone post a picture of this area on their IB. I have doubts my starter rod bracket/assembly is correct.


Has anyone seen a seat braket set up like this before? Looks really well made. I'm sure the seat isn't right. Just don't know if these earlier IBs had different stuff on them.

Going to rebuild the steering box. Has anyone ever "upgraded" there box with newer version of bearings or bushings to make it steer smoother?

Hold up Gentlemen - That generator bracket absolutely IS factory equipment.  This is one of the 260 pre-WWII IB's that were made in 3 runs - one run in each year 1939, 1940, and 1941. If the tractor was equipped with electric starter & lighting from the factory during the 1939 & 1940 production runs, this was the bracket they used.  Not many of these early IB's had the factory starter and lights, so this is a really rare set-up.  In 39 the block didn't have the bosses for generator mounting, in 40 it seems they did have the bosses, but they weren't used.  The 1941 run used the bosses with the more typical generator setup.  Even the electric start torque tube on these pre-war tractors is different than the post-war tractors.  The seat is also factory equipment for the 1940 production run.  There were a lot of differences on these first 260 in comparison with the post-war production, with several differences between the 3 pre-war runs as well.

It does have electric start. I think it may have had lights at one time. If I remember right it is a 40. I can get the serial number in a few minutes. Does anyone have a picture of how the generator what setup on these?
