Back plate so far set at 1/2 inch from block to get it to be spaced right for the pilot bearing. The original seal is used, going to cut out that section on the plate so it will clear. Using a sfi cummins steel flywheel turned down to fit 7000 ring gear. starter will have to be spaced away from plate to contact ring gear, because a cummins crank protrudes 1 1/2 inch out of block, allis is flush. This is a 5.9 going into a 7000 chassis for a puller. hate to change it but bought a complete motor for the same price to get 301 rods hardend. As far as I know a 5.9 has never been instaled in a 301 tractor except the 7010 and 20.

Curious what class? Around here the only guys that can run a Cummins are the Case guys as it was a factory replacement for the 504.

I had a plate made to put a 5.9 in a 180. Its is 1" thick and used a 6 speed dodge flywheel cut down to the 180's ring gear.

One of my options is putting a 5.9 cummins in my D 21 tractor. Looking at all options. Looking at building a 516, or a 426, or a 5.9. I know it is less C.I. BUT TO GET 1000 TO 1200 HP might be cheaper than the other route.
Keep us posted. Thanks Darryl

I wonder if these guys would have a mounting plate that would be close or able to be slightly modified for your Allis-Chalmers - Cummins project? I used them for a Ford truck conversion and found their products good. Here is their weblink: http://fordcummins.com/

There is a dealer in northern Wisconsin that sells complete kits for putting a 5.9 in 7000 / 8000 series tractors. pretty reasonable, and comes with everything but the engine. I will see if i can find their name and get it posted here for you guys.

Ag repower in indiana makes 8.3 and 5.9 conversion but not for 200, xt, 190, or older 301 tractors.

The place in Wisconsin is Link Implement in Ridgeland, WI. They also have kits for IH tractors. Their phone number is 715-949-1795. I believe the fella I talked to was Rodger, he was very knowledgeable and seemed to really know 7000 and 8000 series tractors.

There was some talk a while ago about repowering tractors. Joe was asking about putting a v8 into things. I know this isn't the same but thought it was interesting and worth bring this old posting back up.
