Give'm the Orange Finger

Don’t givem the Finger givem the Orange.  At all of the farm shows starting with Louisville, take an Orange to the AGCO display.  Give it to an executive if one is there or take it to the main information desk.  Even if you haven’t nor ever intend to own a piece of AGCO equipment we need competition.  You can make a difference let’s not let 100+ years of American heritage go away silently.  If confrontation isn’t your thing it’s a perfect silent protest or an icebreaker if you have something to say.  I'd even go as far as to put messages on your orange or use it as a paper weight to hold down your letter if you desire.  To keep this thread bumped to the top so all will see it post suggestions for messages on the oranges. Swamp Louisville booth with oranges.  Also the most impact you can have is sending the board of director’s letters after all they are the ones with power over the president.  There is address for 3 board members in a post titled AGCO’s orange color decision on the gleaner page.  Make sure the board has plenty of letters to talk about at the next several board meetings.  Please remember AGCO employees didn’t make this decision treat them with respect and our message will be heard treat them poorly and it will go in the trash.

I hope owners of all colors understand the merit in showing concern.  We need competion it breeds inovation and keeps people and companies honest.  As for defending it, they havent done a great job of selling it so far it seems the dealers are left to explain it if they can.

I agree Fred these guys say the same thing everytime somebody says AC is gone what they don't understand is this is an Allis Chalmers forum not Agco.

I know it seems like a small insignificant gesture, but if people will write the board bring oranges to farm shows or think of some other way to be heard.  Every little bit helps.  Do not let them pacifie you with the BS there is a chance.  They want people to believe that it is not helping that its only a few malcontents when in reality its piling up, letters, phone call lost sales and maybe just a few thousand oranges.  Rome wasn’t built in a day they have dug in and it will take some effort but it’s worth it.  They also want to discount folks that haven’t bought a new piece from them recently or not at all, when in reality it all matters.  If you are restoring an old A-C or running an AGCO product you bought used or like ILGLEANER have a lot of $ tied up in late model equip. you all count it all adds up.  Look at all the $ JD gets of its heritage.

I would like to see them fail as much as anyone, but many people, dealers, farmers and AGCO employee’s will not make it through a failure even many of the brands are purchased by other companies.  Hey through a little effort at it if you are comfortable doing it.  It all adds up just like $.

    It is defintely worth the time.  Keep after it.  I bet some of the Agco dudes that have to work the shows are dreading it.  Sad part is even in a few years if they do decide to try and introduce orange all over again, the confidence level in them is shot for the orange fans.  I was at an area dealer today of another color and he even  thought that this is very crazy and was shaking his head. Just happened to bring a sack of oranges home today. LOL

I hope folks running all brands get on board with this.  It’s somewhat a matter of principal and values.  Competition breads innovation and the lack of complacency.  Almost every farmer, custom cutter, dealer or employee of a farm equipment company has had to deal with poorly thought out poorly executed management decisions.  Whether you are a MF guy or IH CaseIH, CNH, Ford or whatever it’s a battle to show that we have dwindled the pool of choices far enough.  We have lost enough dealers and continuation of this type of marketing changes will not help the matter.  Manufactures want fewer dealers, consumers want more.  If you truly do care, show it write the board, remember in the time it takes to post on here you can start your letter.  We can have a lot of fun and impact with the oranges but the board needs to be written.  We have a way to communicate to each other that was not available when MF, IH, Oliver, MM and original AC met their fates, we can make a difference.  Tell your friends, if you are a fan of another brand post this on their mesageboards this is a fight for all.  Reduction of brands and dealers affects all in the farming community and our rural lifestyle do not go silently into the night.  Make sure the board knows AGCO doesn’t stand for ALL GONE CORPRATE ORANGE.

Just thought I’d give you a heads up.  I have had some requests for t-shirts.  I know in advance I’m childish but your mama wears combat boots so there.  Sorry for the premature outburst just being a bit proactive I guess.  Anyway I am working on a logo or something like that to get started with and if you have suggestions I am open.  Look for the first one in the next day or so.  I’m thinking of something with the old 7080 shirt Feel the Power.  Also do any of you remember the Gleaner shirt of that same era “Do It in a Gleaner”?   That slogan could get a little risqué but funny.  I hope we can have a constructive protest with this I hope all the combined efforts are making impact.  I wonder if they have banned orange juice at the corporate office lunch room?
