Is there a adapter that can be screwed into the core part of a rear tube so I can drain without spewing that crap everywhere. I went to two local that did tractor tires at one time and nope they dont want it and won't loan me their gun.

milton s466 is what i use it has garden hose threads, but i also use a 1/2 inch diaphram pump and plastic barral to pump into and fill from

I have removed fluid from tires with a shop vac and a series of descending sized hoses stuck together. Actually works pretty good.

Interesting to see how people have done it. I have to drain a couple of them to weld rusted out spots and need to do it again on rims I just acquired. I usually let them hang with the valve stem downward and let them drip for days. Refill with a homemade funnel suspended a couple feet above and a section of windshield washer hose. Very slow.

Stem up, weight off the tire.
Remove core housing and let air out. Attach hose onto stem. Rotate to place stem down, fluid will run out hose to the level of the stem. Once fluid is at stem level you can put weight on the tire to force more fluid out, or a 1/4 tube inserted through the stem will allow pumping the remaining fluid out. |

I’ve got to replace a tube in one of my fluid filled tires. My old pump setup gave out finally, so I’m going to experiment with a soda syrup pump, like the convenience stores use for their fountain machines. All plastic, so no metal parts to deteriorate. I can use my air compressor and regulate the pressure down to pump working pressure. They are a diaphragm pump, might take a little bit longer than one of those big fancy pumps, but didn’t cost near as much.

Admittedly, more knowledgeable folks here and everyone has their opinions. I use my tractors infrequently so was not in the habit of checking stems. Upon inspection they always seemed to have been leaking. The corroded rim risk was simply not worth it to me. Farm tire shop said even with his pump he can't get all of it. So it was new tubes wo fluid. I do have pie weights and really didn't need the extra weight. Everyone's situation is different....

I've drained a few myself - make sure you drain it somewhere away from any plants you want to keep alive. I just used a fuel hose on the stem to let most of it drain out, then a cheap suction tool we had that works off compressed air to get the last of it. Sometimes it creates enough vacuum that it will acutally pull the tire off the bead. A handy way of breaking the bead if you need to dismount it.
But anymore, I just call the local tire shop. They do a road call pretty cheap, and don't charge much to pump out tires. I actually have them coming Wednesday to our Southern farm. They're going to pump the fluid out of three tractors and put a new tube in one of them. Total they quoted me, including the new tube, new calcium adapters, etc, was about $730 CAD (about $530 USD), and the majority of that price is the new tube and diamounting/mounting the tire that's getting the tube. Pumping out the other 5 tires is only a small part of that price. For thst price I deem it no longer worth my time to do myself. I no longer run fluid in any tractor unless it's a larger tractor used for primary tillage. Any tractor smaller than 60 HP we have is usually used for haying or other field work, and they don't need the ballast for any of that. Even without fluid, I still use some of our smaller units (Allis 180 and Case 630) for pulling a 10' disc and cultivator around just fine. For what we do with them, fluid is just more unnecessary weight for them to lug around. And even if they don't leak, loaded tubes will still cause condensation between tube and rim which will rust out the rim. We used to keep all tires loaded at our Northern farm for more stability on our steep side hills, but we now find setting the wheel tread out a couple inches wider does far more for stability than fluid does. Back when we were tractor pulling (70's and early 80's), I made a manifold with an air/water valve (to attach to valve stem), a tee with an air chuck and quarter turn valve and another quarter turn valve in the hose line.
I would jack up the tractor, turn the valve to the top, attach the manifold and air up the tire. Then I would shut off the air valve, turn the tire so the valve was down and open the valve in the hose. The air pressure pushed the fluid out. It took a few times airing up the tire, but it was a lot faster then gravity. To refill tires, I had an old water pressure tank (from a well) that I poured the fluid in and pushed it in with air pressure. I would release built up air through the manifold. You couldn't get all the fluid out. I don't think there is any way to get it all out, but I got most of it out.

I've found the 1/4" copper tube after removing the valve stem unit works to get 99.99% of the fluid out. Then once it's all out you can get the the tire off to do needed repair then clean the rim up properly. Getting the rim clean is a must.
After doing all of the nothing but air ever goes into any tires. Cast iron is much easier to put on and remove when not needed, and if you have a flat, money doesn't run down the ditch.
