I have this ag survey wanting to know all sorts of things.
I think that all this info is already at the area Soil conservation service office.

Joe, here's what I did; Started to fill one out online thinking it couldn't be that bad. Boy was I wrong! Spent over an hour feeling like I was getting an anal probe. Had to leave for work and tossed it in the trash. Sad part is I was almost done. They kept sending them, I kept throwing them in the trash. Last one they sent was MUCH lighter. Opened it up and filled it out in less than 10 minutes. Best part of this story, they were sending my mother one also, she passed 1-15-22. Wrote 'deceased' on her's and mailed it too. Haven't heard anymore but it hasn't been that long since I mailed them.

Anal probe. Yep, that's what it seemed like. Got mine done a few months ago. On line version. Very detailed. Could've done my taxes with it. Claims it's required by law but agree with Joe. Don't they have all that information at the extension office already?

It is not like a tax return, that it needs to be correct or it costs you real money. Just give off the top of your head answers, not trying to lie, but not down to the decimal point. I left some unanswered on the last  census of ag that came. Was a long form but still only 20 minutes or so. I really figured they might send more wanting closer to all of it filled out. So anal probe questions were just not answered, and they went away.

I had one landlord that us to answer all crop report surveys, and then "retired" and sent them my way. So I had to do them to make him happy as he asked if I got them and filled them out.

I had already been advised in Ag business management classes, the big grain companies have lots of data on the crop size and quality besides what they get from government reports. So the only way as farmer to know is work with the government agencies. Of course that was 50 years ago and we did not deal with Eastern Europe and South America as competitors in the grain market, or China for that matter.

I some time fill out things that come from Farm Journal/AG web and have gotten gift cards for my time.  Not raking it in like O'l shamers at the LOL casino. But 10 bucks is still something, and one was lot more.

They called me cause I didn't fill them out. I ask them to read me that law. Guess what, they could not find it but would send it when they found it. Three years later and i'm still waiting and throwing them in the trash.                    MACK

 a) you already mailed it back
 or
b) no reliable internet connection

It sounds like someone is 'datamining' and SELLING YOUR personal information.

Any actual land use data can be had from aerial or sat images these days. Guys in Niagara fruitbelt here can almost count the bunches of grapes on the vines !

I hadn't sent 1 in for a long time. They sent a young lady to help me fill it out. It's not nearly so bad when you gots something easy on the eyes to take your mind off the BS their asking about.
