I was putting a roll pin in the pto shift lever. The pto lever is now not engaging anything.

My service manuals should be here in 2 days. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Am I going to have to take the pto apart to fix this?

Any help or pictures greatly appreciated.

With lever engaged, turn PTO by hand. Disengage lever and see if PTO feels the same when you turn it. Coupler may have dropped off.                     MACK

Hi, Mac:

That is what is going on. How hard is this to fix? Is there an access panel somewhere, or do I have to break open the pto and pull it out?

I should have my manuals tomorrow.

I’m thinking it can only be accessed from a panel on the trans left rear side. I believe near where the parking brake goes inside maybe? Been awhile, we were afraid ours had slipped off during a split to replace the clutch but it was still intact.

Do I need to drain hydraulic fluid?

Will the lever, pad, and pto coupler all be visible?

once you pull the parking brake cover/assy. you can see the inner PTO shaft and the coupler.
check the roll pin on the arm that moves the coupler I have seen them shear.

yes you will need to drain the rear end. (under the front of the drawbar) I don't believe you need to drain the Transmission oil. (can remember)

you will need to have patients and a good eye to reinstall the parking brake assy.

I don't see a roll pin figured for the pad in the parts book. Is the pad what probably slipped off of the arm, or actually the coupler like Mac suggested?

Unfortunately, l just changed all of the oil last weekend.

The parking brake is seized. Any gotchas besides those already passed along?

C-21 figure 14 is the only figure of the pto coupler assembly?

When you pull the side cover where the park brake is, it will be clear to you. Most likely the coupler will be laying in bottom of housing.
The park brake cover is a real $%&!@# to get back in place. I made a fork to keep pads in place. Wasn't perfect but helped.                         MACK

I can use the tractor with the coupler at the bottom of that bay?

Do I need to put rtv or buy a gasket for the parking brake access panel.

This is a picture of the inside after the parking break cover comes off. I wanted to post this in case someone else wants to see this at some point in the future.

The parking break assembly is tricky to put back in.

The parking break ok ever does not move very much. Is that normal?

Thanks for posting that picture. Always wanted to know what it looked like inside, thankfully we have never had to open it to see. I was interested in a really nice 6060 that a local farmer and friend had for sale. I found out that they had loaned the tractor to someone whom forgot to release the hand brake. Yeah I know, big red light on the dash should have prevented him from leaving it pulled. Regardless of what happed I wonder what damages it caused and became gun shy to what damage it may have done. They were asking $9k for a otherwise very nice barn kept 4,000 hr 6060. Not sure how hard that repair would have been.

The parking brake does not move very much in ours but provides very good braking while the trans is in neutral.

Sorry, yes the coupler was laying dead center bottom of that bay.

I moved the lever until I could get the paddle back in, put the paddle back into the pto coupler, tested a couple of times, and put the parking break back on.

I will fill back up today.

The pto works now. I now need to adjust the pto clutch as it does not seem to be doing a thing.

On a positive note the parking brake works now.
