I had a pair once and sold them . The adapter goes from the one big nut to a 5 lug semi dished cast wheel center. Not many around . Post a picture if you can, I found this adapter very interesting.

I knew they made the NUT axle and the 5 bolt Axle.. Did not know there was an adaptor to go from one to the other !

They may be in the Paris Illinois musem along with the arched adjustable B front axle I dropped off there a few years back

Right on Mfam8 The pictures are worth 1000 words. Those adapter hubs are rare indeed. How many have you seen? The "Z" bracket rims pictured bolted right up to the B Cast wheel, What are the Z mounting Bracket Rims off of ? I'm looking for a set of used Kabuta 11x24 Z bracket rims now for my C. Outer bolt circle has to be the came as the C wheel to fit. My CA puller has "Z" bracket rims bolted to Farmall A stamped centers. I thought those "Z" bracket rims were off a Massy 1260. I'm runing 13-6 24 tires on the wide rims |

Ken, this is the only time I had ran into these hub adapters, other than a picture I found one night while searching during one of many insomniac nights I encounter, I will reference the picture later..... I have a B that is somewhat a strange cat, when compared to others I see of the same vintage.. it has an adjustable straight beam wide front end, which I knew was available in the parts book I have dated 1940. My B is a 41. Of course has the adjustable rear hubs, and very shallow dished rear cast center hubs. Has the gear for a side dresser. Radiator shutter, lights, some fairly common options, but probably rare for a 41 model, unless ordered as such. Z bracket wheels I really am not sure, they came in on another tractor, one of them is nearly brand new, says Titan wheel on it, and some wheel numbers. Along the way, I ran into a picture that is exactly like my B. I believe this picture will mean something to you as well, Ken. I also found this dialogue, regarding the B options of the time. :
As stated earlier, electric start became available at serial# 43220 (mid 1940). Looking at my "A New Adventure in Farming" brochure printed in Jan 1941 it highlights the many virtues of the model B and C tractors.
It states the following:
"The Standard Model "B" tractor will handle all of the jobs on the average farm economically and efficiently. There are some conditions, however, where its efficiency is improved by the use of special equipment, and to meet these conditions the following special models have been made available.
For those desiring more complete equipment, there is the Model "B" Special. It is equipped with electric lights, self-starter, radiator shutter, muffler and oversized 9-24 tires."
The following paragraphs of the brochure go on to discuss other options available at additional cost.
1. Model B with special wide adjustable wheel treads, front and back.
2. Model B Asparagus Special
3. Model B Potato Special
Using another source of information, page 36 from A-C Tractor Ads 1922-1956 by Tim Putt, it shows the price of 3 models.
B - $518 on rubber
B - $570 with starter, lights, muffler
C - $595 air tires, lights, starter, muffler
WC - $960 lights, starter and air tires
So it appears that in mid 1940 thru some/all of 1941, Allis-Chalmers was selling the Model B as bare bones model and also a "Special/Deluxe" version. I would guess many farmers would opt for the version with electric start, so it might be harder to find a 1941 model without all of the enhancements.

Wow That B with the two Cry- babies is familiar to me. My first cousin married a guy, Howard Deyoung from Dalton a Chicago Subburb who showed this photo to me. Said it was his dads B and he was the boy cry-baby. I never noticed the adapter hubs back then held in place by the one big nut. I think Howard still has this B and uses it to plow snow . I have recent pictures in color of this same B It now has been totally restored in 1992. Driven every week. Snow plow on the back plus pancake wheel weights for added snow traction. I have a call in about this B to Glenn DeYoung who says it is Grandpa's B

It sure is. I am planning to save this little B I have as well. It does run, and just needs a few issues fixed such as the steering shaft Good to chat with you about the model B, Ken

Check out yourAC B,IB & C PARTS MANUAL, PAGE 154. Adapter hub part number, 210318. Wheel used with splined adapter hub , Part 210105 Used on Bs 18055 and up

Ken did all the Bs have the spacer with that setup. i have a 39 or 40 that has that setup- it also uses smaller lug bolts than the later B 5 bolt hub. Leon

Only bs with the adjustable wide front prior to the 5 bolt dished wheels had that adapter

Bill OR Mister Long, while I have you here. I need all the help I can get to Hand Crank MY 39 B restoration. I want so much to keep this B original. AT 81 I really need a easy start handcrank B. What is the trick to start a B thats stubborn. Pull starts easy Man was I suprised to see your post on this thread. Miss you
I know a guy named Paul Barnsley from Maryland. Made a name for himself pulling a Turbo CA in 2500 class. Do you attend any Antique Tractor pulls out your way?
