hi i just got a tractor that is not factory made, probably shop built. it has 2 WC rearends, one in front one in back, it has a 389 pontiac motor with 2 transfer cases. it articulates in the middle. my question is if anyone here has any info on it. i will be getting it home tommorow and can post pics, it was purchased in centrel minnesota and was told the guy made 6 of them, sometime early mid 1970's. it is painted allis orange.
thanks jason |

Looks like the rearends and the decals are the only WC parts left but it sure looks tough.

That is cool looking, but it looks like it has 2-1/2 ton running gear, steerable axles.

as i look closer at the pic posted, those are either 2 1/2 or 1 1/2 ton gmc axles and frame from the military. i have used them in my mud trucks in the past.

There was one in the mid 70's at a JD dealer in Findley Ohio. It had 2 WC rears and a GMC V6. They said it would outpull a 4020.

I like the one that Greg and John show photos of in Albert City. What engine did it have and transmission? Any idea who built it?

I have plans (in my head) to build an articulating tractor out of left over parts. It will have two WC rear ends but stock height and powered by a 262 gas. (4W93)

Jeremy, yes that appears to be a WD or early 45, 3 bolt wide front.

There was a blacksmith in Montgomery City Mo that made one years ago. They sold it at his sale but I don't know where it went.

Me too. 40 chev, those big axles on that second pic don't seem to be top-loaders like the Rockwells, at least not that I can see. Someone posted that on here a while back. Speaking of mud trucks, I had a buddy with a 2 1/2 frame and running gear. The body had rotted off, so he took the body from the old Dodge station wagon he had in the weeds and grafted it on. Looked really wicked, especially with the tandems on there.(required a leetle fender trimming and sheet metal work to clear that.LOL!) Painted OD green, of course.
