    Posted: 12 Aug 2018 at 5:45pm
I have been away from the forum for several years, being the caregiver to my wife. I have my tractors running again and want to put duals on the WD. Where I grew up I was on a dairy farm but others grew sugar beets. the beets were harvested late in the fall when the fields were wet and sometimes snow covered. farmers would put duals on WD tractors to get through the fields. I have found two wheels and rims. The rims are beyond repair,so I have orderd new. I have blasted and reconditioned the wheel and eccentrics. As soon as I get the new rims galvanized to match the existing ones ,I will need  help to install the duals correctly.

Rex if I remember right they made special double ended bolts to attach the duals. You removed the 8 bolts that held the steel center on and replaced them with the double ended bolts. They tightened down the inner wheel center then you slid the outer center plate over the bolts and tightened down the outer nuts. The outer center plate was dished out. The inner center plate stayed dished in. I have seen these bolts on AC's and fords in past years.

thanks for the information.  does anyone know where I could get 16 of the double lug bolts? I remember that one farmer took 6 of the lug bolts out, left two opposite  bolts in to hold the tire and wheel on then drilled out the two matching holes on the outer wheel and then replaced the 6 bolts through both wheels .

I have spaced band or sometimes called clamp on duals like in the picture. You can order eylets that clamp on the spin out rails and slide long J-bolts through the eyes and tighten down the duals. This are the quickest to get on an off.

You can see how they work here. Unverferth makes both the eyelets and rims. If you look you can using find used rim pretty cheap.

Do not know if still available  but at one time you could get flat J bolts that hooked over the slide rail, mounted many of those on 38"  power shift rims.
