D15 with unknown engine

   I recently purchased a 1961 D15. Got it home and soon discovered that all is not as it appears. It started when I saw that someone had torched a notch into the front bracket that the engine mounts to. 
Why would anyone do that unless it was not the original engine.
 Then when I went to order a new manifold gasket, a D15 didn't seem correct. The bolt pattern matches that of a B/C/CA pattern, and the manifold itself looks like a B/C/CA but the previous owner had the metal type cups on the manifold that match a WC/WD/WD45 D17 and 170. 
 So I started researching the number cast into the block of the engine, AM 2916 35
This number does not seem to match any B/C/CA numbers as they end in a 30 for 1958.
 There is another number stamped on the flange of the engine where it bolts to the torque housing. CR 50468 PA. I've had no luck researching this number. 
 I've added another photo of the right side of engine to help out.
 Any help I could get on identifying the engine that is in this tractor would be greatly appreciated. I figure it runs so good that I might as well live with it. I'm only going to use to mow and maintain a 4 acre food plot and some trails but want to make sure that when servicing it that I get the correct specs on it.

	Looks like an earlier engine to me, since it has a mag. But like you say there shouldn't be a torch cut in the bracket. Edited by CrestonM - 31 Oct 2016 at 5:45pm

	Engine is out of an "RC" I'm thinking.

	My guess is from a B or C model. RC's didn't have the generator bosses. Also not a D series engine due to not have the opening under the magneto area for the power steering pump

	No D15s ever had magneto's on them either (except for this one). B and C engines are cheap and plentiful, so that is my guess. Considerably less horsepower too.

	That is a power unit motor off of a combine or baler, those motor serial numbers start with prefix CR, I have that same motor in my B!

	Do you know what kind of horsepower it is putting out and if i can get a service manual for it?

	I would say high 20's they rev significantly higher rpms

	Same engine as on a B, C, or CA. Same service manual. LOL Bob

	If you have the manifold for it it will have a petcock if it's a combine engine.

	It is a B or CA arrow head block \arrow head cast in to block just ahead of the dipstick\ 1951 or later.

	I'd like to thank everyone for their taking time out to help me with the above post. A special shout out to Gerald J for info manuals. As I continue to clean this machine up, add a part here and there, and some fresh paint, I'm sure I will have more questions.
