 Topic: 190 fuel pump

Last week I used the 190 gas tractor for round baling, and the fuel pump wasn't leaking back then, but couple days later, I started it up to use and pump was leaking. Yesterday I took a pump off another 190 engine and found it to leak too, so Itook it apart and the diaphram was cracked... Question is, were these pumps rebuildable at one time being it is screwed together or do you have to buy a whole new pump? Is there a place that rebuilds these pumps or can get the parts ? Haven't called anyone yet because of Labor day weekend. I am thinking I might have to put an electric fuel pump on it. Can get electric pump for as little as 9 - 13 bucks. They maybe rebuildable, Google it or on Ebay, but I went with the electric, lot less hassle and works great

I just went through this . there is a place on the east coast that has or will put together a rebuild kit for your pump . It is a simple deal . If I heard the name I could remember , but right now when I want to I can't . I did put their information in a past post , but not sure where to find it . It may be tomorrow because I have it at work , but I will find it for you . A lot of guys have had good luck with the electric pumps . I tried two different low pressure pumps , but kept pushing past the needle and seat . Since rebuilding the original pump I have had no problems .

Nope, not exactly... Yours has a slot for lever to go thru... mine has a round button that the pump lever arm fork goes above.  Partially assembled pump... Notice the offset lever. Yea, The elbow sitting infront of spring etc... but you can see the button on the end that the lever pulls down on.  I will have to look to see what your pump rebuild kit fits,

not positive , but I think you have a carter pump . If you call that number tomorrow and send them those pictures they can fix you up . I had the offset lever ,but mine was slightly different than yours . I had the AC pump

Thanks Festus, it is a Carter fuel pump. No. 1005
The picture is of the parts engine pump, but it's the same as the one on the tractor... except the tractors top cover says Carter Carburetor Corporation etc.

Well, just an update on the fuel pump issue... bought the eleven dollar electric fuel pump and put it on, in a quick fashion, I had taken old pump off but needed a cover plate... so took the inlet fitting off the pump body and took the actuating lever out , then bolted old pump back on. Screwed fitting into the inlet on new fuel filter, and screwed that to new pump and reattached fitting to line. Then put hose fitting in pressure end of pump and ran a hose over to carb where I have another big filter and connected to inlet on filter.
Hooked up pump to ignition wire above resister and connected ground to clamp for lines and then it fired right up. Went to bale hay and the tractor ran good for a little while and then started having starvation of fuel... I put the ground wire under a bolt and tightened it there and it never died after that... worked really good.
Now, I think I will put a relay in on the fuel pump and then grab the electricity from solenoid hot post, because it is flickering the amp gauge needle constantly, hopefully it will smooth that out.
