I just finished installing a variable speed header drive on my K2. I have a 30 &35 tooth sprocket on the A330 head and a 13 & 25 tooth sprocket on the combine. There are 4 different speed settings there, plus the VS drive. Looking for any suggestions for the chain sprocket combinations I should start out with. Crop will be light, , under 100 bushel due to flooding.

you have something really wrong. VS corn head drives have LH double 13 tooth sprockets = outside for corn head inside for bean head. The rh side has a 13 tooth number 60 chain and a 15 fifty chain for beater.
you can not use the vs for grain head.

I've always used the variable speed drive on the header, not the corn head! plus my variable speed is just that...it's hyd drive, faster or slower adjusted with the lever inside the cab!

Well... different at least. This set-up did come off a later model K2 with Hydro. The machine had been modified in numerous ways, probably a seed company machine. Thank you for the heads up though. It got me to look in the Parts Manual and see that there should be a quantity of two 13 tooth sprockets on the drive shaft. So I've got another 13 tooth being delivered tomorrow to replace the 25 tooth. Now that cuts my option in half. I'd still like to get some input as to which sprocket to use on the corn head (driven) when using a VS drive on the combine. The 30 tooth or the 35 tooth? I understand that when using the grain head I have to open this VS sheave up (smaller), and reconnect hydraulic hose to header. Thanks again for your helpful information. This is a great forum!

used the 13 tooth. You probably have a Pioneer machine.
Better look at the shoe - they removed the sieve and tailings.
Does your unit have the double cab?

Just to clear things up, my K2 is a standard machine. It did not have Variable Speed Header Drive on it. I wanted one on it to control corn head speed, so I bought a VS Header Drive off a Seed Co. K2 at Spallinger Combine Parts. The VS countershaft had a 25 tooth and a 13 tooth sprocket on the LH side, same as my countershaft w/o VS. It also had a 15 tooth sprocket on the RH end to drive the feeder beater, same as my old one w/o VS. So this led to my original question, as to which is the correct sprocket combination to use now that I have VS Header Drive to run the corn head.
As posted earlier, the A-C, Deutz and AGCO Parts Manuals all show using a quantity of two 13 tooth sprockets on the LH end of the VS Countershaft. I ordered one and received it today, planning to install it tonight.   So I happened to see in the Adjustable Row Corn Heads Parts Catalog, it shows to use the 25 tooth sprocket on the countershaft with the VS Header Drive. The Combine Parts Catalog had information that conflicted with the Corn Head Parts Catalog. Thank you to Tim at Mayer Farm Equip. for taking time to help me get this figured out.
To answer my own question, and to help anyone else who may travel this path, I will run the chain on the 25 tooth drive sprocket and the 35 tooth driven sprocket to start out. If I can't get the speed desired I'll switch over to the 30 tooth driven sprocket.
If this seems confusing, it was, not to mention this is 36 year old information.   Keep those Gleaners rolling...

it is confusing, the 430 black cornheads drove with 13 tooth sprockets while the 38" row drove with a 25 tooth sprocket as did the 2 and 330, 348 heads. One word of caution, the vs on the F,K was not as durable as the l,m vs header drives. Since your machine was equipped with larger sprockets , and if it was used with a gleaner header , it was probably never used.
