It is getting so congested under this general heading that many members posts get lost in no time. Is it about time to consider breaking Farm Equipment down into more manageable size sub topics? Three that come to mind are Letter Series Tractors, Number series Tractors, and Implements of all kinds.

Topic is not too vague folks cannt seem to get post in the right place. The farm equipment forum has many for sales, look at my plow day, see my child/grandchild, we lost Bill he had a CA and so on and so forth.   It would be nice if moderators cracked down more on this.   The folks on Agtalk seem to self police this better.   Plain and simple if it's not directly about a peice of farm equipment I doesn't belong here.   Simple enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah Agtalk does crack down pretty hard on that stuff. I think maybe, letter series, hundred, 6000/7000/8000, implements and combines. maybe a ID one too.

but it is set up pretty good as is

How would you post a pic of your team that included an L2 combine, a 7050, a 190 and a WD?

I like the variety of stuff.  It's easy to scan the titles and skip the ones that aren't interesting to me.  Prefer that to having to check several different forums.

If anything, I vote for a safety section. One can tell all their near misses and actual accidents so we can all learn from each other and be safe. Otherwise, it is hit or miss finding items that are of that topic within this site.

So your saying the original thread should have been posted in a different spot.   Kinda hard to reply in different forum from original thread.

I was thinking the same thing as I read my way down this thread.   I said leave it alone I often think I need to look at the construction posts more the i do just cause. If you break it all up I bet people get less help. Who wants to open 10 different pages simply to answer questions for people. It works great the way it is for me. When I have posted a question I get quick answers.   Now if I could only find the time to put them to good use....

I think we should have a photos section in the forum. I love looking at photos!

I think we should have an "Everything Else" in the farm equipment forum for other brands. I tend to ask my off-brand questions on this forum, because of the wealth of knowledge.

Actually in the forum talk section there is a thread Picture only forum? Where the suggestion was made to have a photo section.   It is a somewhat older thread which has made it's way back up near the top I was reading it the other day thinking I would really like it myself.

Yes, "thread " would have been more appropriate and I was going to go back and edit it then I got a phone call and forgot about it. My apologies

I don't see any problems with the way it is, in fact I'd like to see at least the construction forum put back with farm equipment. So many threads over there don't get the attention they should, simply because there isn't much traffic over there. A lot of problem questions about construction equipment could easily be answered by farm equipment expert's that just don't go over there. Darrel

I agree that if the non-equipment posts were put in the appropriate sections, the farm equipment section would be less congested.

Stick the current categories and all will be well, but stick to it, don't succumb to laziness. :)

On another forum I frequent, there is a "New Posts" button. I like that feature. It only works if you log on, but if you log on each time, hit New Posts, it lists every thread that has had a new entry since you last logged on, regardless of topic. It's nice. There is also and "Active Topics" button that works if you don't log on, but it's not quite the same thing.

I like this forum. It's very active, so topics do slide down the list rather quickly...You could break it all up into tractors, combines, implements, shows, misc....But yeah, people put stuff like pictures and so on wherever they feel like, so no big deal.

I should clarify, for some strange reason, new posts feature on this forum only works the first time I visit a thread. If I come back the next time, it's like it's book marked from the first time.    Very weird, but any way, I don't use it so much because it drives me nuts. The other forum works perfectly for me, and I have no idea what the difference is!
