ok so my the box where my steering shaft enters i dont know its official name but anyway it appears to be leaking right under where the shaft enters the box. so how do i add fluid, what fluid does it take and how might i stop the leak?

There is a shaft seal on that shaft. Its leaking from wear or rot of old age. Its something of a pain to replace. The original lubricant is probably transmission oil 80w. The leak will be a lot slower if the replacement lubricant is a thin grease, like corn head grease from Deere. Steering will get a lot harder with all the lubricant gone.
