As one would expect on these old tractors, the maufacturer's marks and serial numbers are full of rust and paint. once the metal is prepared otherwise the result is being able to see the marking from the contrasting paint left in the stamp mark and the clean metal.
even with paint remover/ wire brushes it's not easy to clean out these spots. mechanical methods might damage the metal leaving more of a free hand carving look. Has anyone mastered this skill?
The markings in the expantion plugs(example) are quite fine.
