   With all used parts, I put my B motor together. After help from all, I could crank it by hand. A little tweak of the mag and a lot of sweat - " It's alive!!". First run seemed to be going okay. Just then, fate say's " Oh, hell no" - sparks fly from the bell housing ( It was getting dark, so it was kind of spectacular). Obviously, something in the clutch let go. Time to split her down the middle, AGAIN.

   I had that happen with my '47 B a few years ago and the sparks were from one of the bolts I had put in to fill the implement mount holes in the bellhousing. One was just a little too long and the teeth on the ring gear just caught it and fired sparks out the bottom of the bellhousing!!

   I did that with my CA when bought it and hauled it home, had the bolt thru the chain and forgot to back it off.  Couldn`t figure out why the engine had seized up coming home.

   I never did get back to you all on this. It seems to me that 71 year old bolts might not hold up to the torque that was originally intended. One broke off of the pressure plate, and wedged itself in the bellhousing, refusing to leave until I split the tractor and extracted it out like an angry surgeon. Thank God for floor jacks, 4X4's, chain hoists, and pry bars.
