Your reserve is supposed to be what you set the starting bid at. Says in the rules to start it at the lowest price you would be willing to sell it for. I've seen guys set the starting bid at a very reasonable price and then get a couple admins saying that there starting bid is to high. Go figure.

I was one of those people you speak of Ironac. Told me that on some Rotobalers I posted on there. Guess what I sold them for more than my starting bid to the same guy. Prices vary through out the US. They think if it won't bring that kinda money in their 50 mile radius from home it ain't worth it. I argued with them for quite a while on that one. In the end they said we will let it slide this time. Really pissed me off on that one.

First off the seller told him he was charging $50 per week starting the day after the auction.  Ron told him that according to the Big Iron rules he could only charge $25 after two weeks.  Seller said "I don't care, $50."  Ron bought a better pickup to haul the tractor, I don't think that's my fault, by the way, and left for MN on Monday.  Picked up the tractor, of course the battery was dead.  The seller at first said "Not my problem." but then hooked up a battery charger. The tractor is so wide that it barely fit on the trailer and the seller didn't help load it or offer to help narrow the wheels, but as Ron was winching it on came out and said come in the shop.  Ron went in the shop.  The seller was sitting in a chair with a bunch of manuals for the tractor on his lap.  He was near tears, pissed that the tractor sold so cheap.  Ron apologized to him for the way things went but told him he bid on it in good faith and had no idea if he would get it with his last bid.  The seller admitted it wasn't Ron's fault but told him he had put hundreds of hours and dollars into the tractor and regretted putting it on the auction.  Ron is a retired ER Doc and told me he was concerned for the seller as he is very overweight and doesn't look healthy for a mid 70's man.  He gave him the books and told him he better get on the road before the storm arrives.  Ron finished chaining down and left.
Now I'm really feeling bad that I even mentioned the auction, but I guess if Ron hadn't bid on the tractor it might have sold for even less.  A few years ago I bought my 8030 at a friends auction and was going to quit bidding when Ron told me he would put a $1000 in toward it (he was still working then).  I offered to pay him back but he wouldn't accept it.  Maybe I'll try to talk him into sending the Oliver seller the money.
Always appreciate feedback from you all.

First off $3000 for an Oliver 88 is REAL GOOD money for it,I have a couple 1550 Olivers
I paid 1500 and 2000 for so he got a good price. Then the guy wanted to be a pain and not help load etc, can't see where he deserves any more money that's for sure. He's the one that offered it up to auction you fellows sure don't have anything to feel bad about.

In this day and age I agree,

LOTS of would be sellers having remorse for not selling out  several years ago. I have been watching some Mecum auctions on the TV and it makes me sad to see the fully restored  but common 40s-50s tractors selling for spit, some less than  the price of the new tires they wear and color makes little difference.  The real money is being spent on 60s-80s "muscle" tractors.

The information age has made the price curves in collectables well known and thus pretty much predictable. The truly rare and hard to find items will retain value but the stuff you see for sale every day aint far from tanking when you see lots of them for sale and prices leveling off.

I don't want to stir the pot but the auction page is mine. There are two sides to every story. The issue of running bids was brought up and was looked in to but ILGLEANER wasn't happy with the answer. Two guys who know each other bought from each other. It hasn't been relisted. One bought it, the other wanted it for a Christmas gift and when guy #1 listed it on the page guy #2 bid like everyone else and bought it. I've repeatedly said this but it turned in to me and my page being bashed all over the net. I keep a clean page and I do my best along with my admins to keep it on the up and up. We have in the past caught a few buddy bidders doing wrong and they're gone. I don't tolerate it. But all parties were talked to and the issue was dropped...At least on my end. Again I don't want to stir the pot but I wanted my side to be out there too.

Well one thing for sure no one can make me or anyone else bid more than I/they want for something regardless of who else is bidding.Just like some consignment sales sure the sellers have some people there pushing the price up,doesn't bother me I have my stopping point and that's the bottom line.If sellers get hung with too many buy backs they'll get tired of hauling them around after awhile,it all takes care of itself.

You want to stir it then lets stir it.   There were to guys coming to Illinois to drop off some pedal tractors in Greenville, Then going up to Nokomis to Kurt Aumans to pick up Pedal combines from him, then meeting a guy in Effingham the next day.  They combine they picked up together, was put on your site and sold, while they were here in Illinois. They were stopping by my place but didnt have time , I talked to them.  And the pedal combine sells by one , and the other trumps every bid and got it.    Like I said in the begining, I had nothing in it, but I saw what was going on.  He said he would look into it and get back to me, Well I got back to him, said talked to the other administrators and there was no wrong doing. Fine what ever  its your show, but I will for sure have everything I sell on there protected by someone else.   End of story, until he decided there was to much chit chat and deleted my posts, Then it was on. I have talked to alot of people, and they have told me what buddy bids for the other buddy. And you know what they have told me the truth.   Happy New Year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why all the butt hurt about item you were not even bidding on? We talked to both the seller and buyer about that auction and it was legit. The buyer purchased item for his nephew and I saw pic of it under the Christmas tree.
Both the buyer and seller are friends and were traveling together when this auction was happening but the buyer did win the item fair and square. You cite the fact they were traveling together as proof of wrong doing with no other proof to back up your claims.

No one called you a lier and the reason you were removed from the page is the tone and context of your PMs and comments. Maybe we should post those PMs here so everyone can see what really transpired.

See I don't get it...You're getting all wound up and bashing me all over the net trying to prove a point that is moot. You've slandered me as has your kid. Austin is no longer there on my page because of his attitude and his mouth. It had nothing to do with this issue. You repeatedly asked me about this and I as well as Motrack looked in to it... Repeatedly with the same results yet you still scream foul play. I've had enough. It was time people see both sides of this sorry. I'm not the bad guy. I run a clean page over there and I'll keep it that way. You're currently still on it but keep it up and I'll let the admins do what they've been wanting to do. It's not just me over there. It's a group effort.

Several years ago I put a tractor on e-bay for $1500. for a week. After 5 days , no bids. A guy sends me an e-mail and says he will pay $1200. if I put a "buy it now" so he can purchase and pickup in 2 days... I say OK and the deal is done.. Next day I get an e-mail from a second guy who is IRATE,  screaming and cussing me for "selling the tractor out from under him"  ???  He wanted to bid on the 7th day at the last hour and I ruined his plan. He thought I OWED him the tractor  !! .......... I STILL don't get it ???

Ben Lumpy you are an absolute weirdo. It's a freaking Facebook group. You're not running a business or any kind of a profitable organization. Little kids have and run Facebook pages, so quit acting like a big shot. You act Like you have a job to run" a Facebook page. I understand you feel like you have power over other people, and that's probably something you don't have in your real life. It's filling a void in your life.

I think a lot of folks seem to think auctions are held so they can get bargains and I like a bargain as good as anyone. But I assume auctions are held by the seller so they can get the most $$$ for whatever they are trying to sell.

I was high and only bidder on a d17 brochure on the auction page and the seller didn't think it brought enough so he wasn't going to sell it to me. I wasn't out anything so I let it go. The auction site is by far a perfect site, and I don't think it matters how much attention someone gave it it's not going to fix it. Why not just let nature take its course and not get all uptight about it thinking your running a tight ship. The admins come off as quite rude to the honest people.. reminds me of our government. I'm glad there's a new site because I was getting tired of seeing all the Massey and Oliver stuff on my newsfeed anyways.

I bought my D-19 off there, worked out really well for me. Seller was easy to get along with too. I just don't like seeing all the Massey and Oliver stuff. Hate to waste time seeing a notification for another 1/16th 1650 Oliver. But there are some good finds on there occasionally

I get it. If you posted an item for auction for 7 days at a certain price, then leave it up. I typically bid at the last day also. Early bids tend to run the price up quicker.

Every site has their rules, the way they set it up and you need to read the fine print. I no longer buy on e-pay and figured I should start staying off sites where information is "shared".
Forget it as once you use any of them, the genie is out of the bottle and they can do anything they want.
After seeing a 180 and a 185 on a name brand auction site I have never used I took a chance and bid on both figuring I just might get lucky and get one of them as they were within decent hauling distance for me.
The 180 closed first and my phone was ringing off the hook with the auction company "telling me" I needed to re-bid or I would lose the tractor. The wording they used was actually comical and it proves the point about just how degrading folks can be when they are hiding behind a phone and "selling".
Can't say I'll never use that site again but there is what I feel is a very young man that is still using "butt salve" after our last discussion.
End result, I ended up with a "peach" for a 185 that I am pleased with, waited a long time for and picked up far below any others I have seen listed for years (for the cost of the new rubber on it).
Guess you have to be either in, or out like any auction.

Yes as a seller. AS a buyer, no! two different goals.

As a seller if you thought 1200 was a good price, then why not list it for 1200 and see if the bid goes up more. If it sells as 1200 then that is OK also.

You are right, as a seller you want to get the most you can.

I get it. If you posted an item for auction for 7 days at a certain price, then leave it up. I typically bid at the last day also. Early bids tend to run the price up quicker.

If its an item you want you need to put in some kind of bid early as its easier for the seller to take the item off ebay if it doesn't have any bids.I usually hit a couple low ball bids early on and then bid my maximum in the last 7 or 8 seconds of the auction so other bidderss don't have time to rebid.
