My mother had a problem breathing so my sister picked her up and on the way to the Dr. office she called and they said to just go to the ER. So a 35 mile trip to the next county and they determined she needed to be admitted but was going to send her 60 miles to another hospital by ambulance. Due to medicare they called her home county ambulance, 35 miles away, to take her but they didn't have one to spare so they called that local county ambulance. Ambulance arrives, 3 technicians get out and bring in a gurney, and the lead guy looks at Mom and asks, "Don't I know you?" Mom answers maybe and they go about gettting ready to transfer her to the gurney and the lead tech stops, gets a funny look on his face, turns to the other two and says, "Guys, you are looking at one of the stubbornest women in Shelby County." His grammar may have been incorrect but the statement wasn't.
I took her flowers as she turned 85 in the hospital yesterday but they are releasing her tomorrow.

back when I was on the Fire truck, we always had some elderly "frequent flyers" that were true spitfires, the could be stubborn, but were always grateful in the end!, Glad Mom's coming home! Tell her Happy Birthday from us!

we had a eccentric lady, kept calling in to go to the hospital about anything. she was usually drunk when paramedics arrived at her house. she didn't like that epicap (spelling) when at the hosp. nor the charcoal. was almost an everyday/night call. got so bad that they started hauling her on top of the hose on the back of a fire truck. didn't matter that it was winter outside. she still called to go to the hospital again and again...then she moved....WOOHOO! be someone else's problem now! wish your Mom a Happy Birthday, and tell her to keep up her stubbornness!
