Hope you guys can help us out.  I'm writing this for my husband who's busy outdoors right now.  We bought a 7600 and it was delivered three weeks ago.  My husband noticed after it was delivered that the alternator wire was rubbing on the hood and had troubles getting it started.  The dealer had put a new battery in it prior to delivery.  We got a new or rebuilt alternator as the old one was completely shot.  Now today it won't start again!  What's wrong?  Did that rubbing wire cause a problem somewhere else on the circuit?  My husband muttered something about the "genius Europeans not having an integrated alternator" like the American-made tractors.  Thanks for your help.

will the motor turn over ?  or nothing happens ? 7600 is that a deere or agco ?

poss that the wires that were rubbing may be draining the batteries...?

It's an Agco with a Saame` air-cooled engine.  It had a brand new battery when we got it the end of December and then we replaced the alternator last week because it wasn't charging.  The guy that rebuilt the alternator took a look at it today and said that there's power to the dash for the lights and so on, but no power is getting back to the battery to keep it charged up.  He also said it looks like somebody had patched some of the wires under the dash.  Sounds like we'll have to get a wiring schematic and have a mechanic take a look.  
I hope he figures out the problem fast, because we have our back blade hooked up to it to plow snow.  Another big snowstorm is on its way to Michigan and I sure hope I can get it charged up and started to plow snow.  Otherwise it might be our D17 loader tractor with no cab!

If that tractor has a cab,and it sounds like it does,it  will have two alternators on it.One is for charging the battery and the general electrical system.The other only comes into play when the cab heater is used.It supplies the power for the heater coil element.Be sure you are checking the right alternator.Considering that the tractor is new to you,it would be an easy mistake.I think that this information is correct,at least the way I remember it.I don't remember if the tractor uses a ammeter,voltmeter,or idiot light,reguardless does it give any indication in the cab as to what it is doing?I always thought that the German Deutz had the worst electrical system however the Italians were not to be out done.I have the wiring diagram somewhere if you need it. Good luck.
