I am wondering if it is possible to turn down the injector pump. 145 hp is way more than I need for running a 4' round baler. The other reason would be fuel savings??? If I am not mistaken the 8030 has the same motor at 130 HP. I am looking more at 120 HP but came across a nice 7045.

It is absolutely possible. But a diesel only uses as much fuel as it takes to make the power output. So if you don't use 145 HP, you won't use 145HP worth of fuel.

yes as stated above, if you only demand 120 out of it, that's all it will deliver. there is a torque screw on the pump which does provide an external adjustment, you can turn it in a 1/2 turn at a time. If you dyno it, that will make it easier to set it at a certain point. No matter what you do, a 426 powered tractor will almost always use more fuel than a 301 turbo tractor like a 7000, 7010, 7020.

If that 7045 is nice, and isn't all that expensive, you will kick yourself if you don't buy it. :-)
