7000 engine turbo oil supply connection. |

My engine runs but have encountered a problem hooking up oil supply line to the turbo. The military had it connected below the oil pressure adjust on right rear of engine. Had to remove connector to install starter, now cannot reinstall connector. Where would be the best place to connect an oil source? Picture in book shows a T-connection into the turbo supply line, doesnt show where the other end connects. There is a 1/2inch pipe plug adjacent to the oil presssure adjust, is this port just for a by-pass or could the turbo be connected to this point? This 7000 engine is replacing my non-op 6000. hello superchief i used a shorter bolt in that top area and got the starter in before i installed the engine in the frame. not sure how removing the starter going to be when that time comes. i also have to raise the engine up to change the oil filter. hope this helps. my 7000engine has two pipe plugs on the oil filter head been trying to find out if these could be used to mount a remote filter. maybe you tap off from there. Hi Danny, thanks for trying to help me. I see in your picture that the main difference is the starter, my starter is an enclosed shift type starter with over-running clutch which makes the space even less. We are re-routing the oiler pipe to an unused port on the oil pressure regulator which should work. We will be able to check it tomorrow when we check for pressure. Thanks much for your help. Danny, an update from me, finally I managed to get the line and the starter installed using a shorter bolt , backing all the bolts loose pulling starte part of the way out, installed the two adapters, connected the line and installed the starter. Getting ready for final test run before installation of engine. Thanks again, Superchief

Hello Superchief glad to hear it's working out. looking forward to seeing a picture of your machine. every time my 7000 fires up i get a big smile on my face. thought you might like to see my oil filter problem. had to notch the frame and remove the centering guide and lift the front of the engine about an inch. i leave the nuts on so i can pull the bolts back down. tried a spin on adaptor from baldwin but it didn't fit this head. still looking for an adapter. Hi Danny, thanks for your words, I have one more bench run to do but I must get the hydrawlic clutch reservoir installed, perform the run and then install the engine. Pertaining to your oil filter problem; my 7000 had the opitional filter which is about 1.5 inches longer than the stock issue. Do you think it would solve your problem if you put a stock filter cannister with the smaller filter on your unit?
I will send pictures as soon as I get the engine completely ready to install. I couldn't use the standyne pump due to the need for a fan drive gear and the clutch oil drive. Also had to change out cam gear. A lot of work but I'm sure when it is all done it will have been worth it. Superchief
