My 6140 does not pick up oil pressure immediately upon start up.  Sometimes it takes up to a minute or so.  After it picks up oil, it does fine with fair oil pressure.  It has done this off and on for several years now, but it seems to be getting slightly worse.  If it has sat for more than a couple of hours it happens pretty much every time.  It used to get better with new oil filter but I can't tell any difference any more.  I have looked at the parts diagrams, and I can't see any type of check valve.  Do you all think that the oil pump needs to be replaced (if it's even available)? Any other thoughts? thanks- Morgan

If the oil pickup in the oil pan has a screen over it then I would start there and make sure it's clean.

Thanks. there is a screen.  It looks like I have to remove loader, front end, front cover, engine , clutch and flywheel to remove oil sump.  This project may have to wait for cooler weather.
