I hope I'm asking this in the Right place.
2yrs ago I had a new clutch put in my 6070, i was never happy with it as there was no free play..It failed.I took it back to Baker Tractor and they broke it down and blamed me saying it designer grated. ((IMPACTION) They claimed. I had them put another one in .That was done in the spring. Today and about 50 hrs later this clutch slips. There is no adjustments left on this cable. I never tried to adjust this. I contacted Baker and their road service came to try and adjust, They claim the clutch is out again. I think they are full of Crap! I've decided to attempt to fix this myself as they are obviously doing something wrong. I'm hoping to get in formation fromantic you guys as to what's probably happening. I will say the PTO is working great. I only use this tractor for brush hoping, disclosure mowing and the loader. Thanks any help appreciated |

6070&6080 clutches are different from anything else.Don't have experience with either but heard it here many times.I don't think it's rocket science but close? You have to know what is what when you fiddle with one.Something a bout certain adjustments or demensions before assembly.Has to be right or quick failure.Think there was a special tool for setting fingers?Someone on here knows.Hang tight and you will learn more.

One thing to check is end play on the crankshaft the double clutch pack puts lots of pressure on the crank especially if you run with PTO lever pulled back

They don't know how to put a clutch in a 6060 6070 6080. It has 2 sets of fingers. I would say they will be eating a clutch job.

That clutch assembly doesn't like any oil leaks. The 190-200 style clutch setup was s lot more forgiving of oil leaks. Also, that tractor doesn't have any free play, it uses what is called a constant running throw out bearing.

Thanks, for all the Info.
My 1st clutch blew apart, (according to the dealer) that job I was charged a little over 1800 bucks. When I took it back to them they said it blew apart because of Impaction. Too me that term is vague. However, I gave them the benefit the doubt and paid another 1550 bucks for another one. It hasn't even been a year and had already failed. I really believe They don't know what that are doing!! They did say to bring it back and they would fix it again on my dime. This ain't going to happen!! I might not be the brightest bulb in the Pak but I do know how to use a wrench. I just don't know what type of tooling Allis Chalmers used when they set one of these clutches up. I'm glad you mentioned the crank end play and oil problems I'll make sure I pay special attention to them. Thanks you guys are a very valuable source of info!! |

Are they using fibre clutch discs or ceramettallic? If they are using fibre discs on a loader tractor, it has been my experience that extremely short life is too be expected. Spend the extra on the heavy duty cerametallitic trans disc and set the fingers right and the clutch wiil last.

I have saw several clutchcover castings brake over the years. Believe it is poor design and poor cast. MACK
