Tim,
I believe that Steve has sold all his Allis stuff and is not active here at this time.
Yes we miss his work. Darn Photobucket!

Any help would be great.

Sounds nice Chris.  I've seen you've done some nice fixes to your new D series.  I am currently "restoring" a 1964 International 404 Utility and doing maintenance projects on another CA for use as a beater.  The 404 got paint last weekend and turned out pretty good.  Now I need to put her back together.  My Maggie is still my favorite!
Best,
Steve

That's a beautiful job! Thanks for posting all the pictures you did, it'll really help me with mine.  I think I'll skip powder coating as well.

Well, the hand cranking started getting old.  I caved and installed a starter.  I also put some lights on old Maggie too.  I need to get a rear light and red light.  She's been a joy.

Great job Steve! Tractor looks great. Not hard to get that kinda money tied into these Tractors, but ya did it the right way. Made sure the things that needed to be replaced or repaired got done, and done correctly. The powder coating adds more to the price of the rebuild, but that was your choice, and it looks fantastic. The longevity of the paint should equal the value of the expense. Nice choice of applied color to. I like "different". And I like your C model! Again, great job!

Kenny,
You are amazing.  I wish I could find those hundred dollar deals.  Mine always cost 500 to 1000.  I'd love to get your B, just can't find time to get over to your neck of the woods.  I hope things are going well.

Steve.
I don't guess you will be needing a B from Texas. I just drug home another 50 B very much like yours. Cost $100 and a couple hours dragging it out of the woods and winching it up on the trailer. With a minimum of tinkering while still on the trailer my son got it running. Sounds sweet with no smoke and great oil pressure . The engine is a 60H power unit. CR sn prefix

Chris,
Thanks.  2K in the engine, 2K in sandblasting and powdercoating, and the rest in new parts.  Everything is new or professionally restored.  New tires, new radiator, new bearings, seals etc etc. ad infinitum.  My little b will be a farm restoration with no painting.  Just get her fit for service.  I can't stop!

Steve,
Congratulations on the completion of your Allis "C". The cost of the restoration surprized me a little but I know that these consume large quantities of funds. ( I know I have at least that much in the two WD's) Your pictures and documentation were excellent! I have enjoyed the journey with you! Glad to see you have another waiting in the wings! looking forward to the next one!
Regards,
 Chris

Finished the rebuild today and test drove the tractor.  Drives well and runs well.  Temperature indicates about 170-180 based on gauge.  Oil pressure is constant and in the "normal" range.  Got a leak at the steering box.  I couldn't find the seal I needed.  Final cost was $9760.  I know it was way over the top, but the tractor is properly restored.  Took me about 3.5 months.  I learned a good bit along the way.  I won't powdercoat again.

The little B waiting her turn.

A little whimsy.

B again.

Day 3 just for comparison.

Thanks again guys.  The tractor sn does indicate that it's a 1941.  Chris, I used the paint from tractor supply.  I've forgotten the brand.  I'll have to look tomorrow.

Steve,
Your Allis C tractor restoration is nearing completion. Thanks for taking us along for the ride also!Great pictures! Sure helped keep me motivated. Really looks nice with the orange and white color scheme too. Your right, the blue decals look very good on the white.
Hope it drives as good as it looks too!
I forgot to ask what brand of rattle can orange did you use? It look good.

Steve
The 12 at the end of the engine casting number would indicate cast in 1940. Very early 38 Bs were #9 later 38s were 10s. 39 were 11s and 40s 12s. Some room for overlap of casting date and use in tractors has to be considered. This formula works for Bs as well as Cs before WWII
Are you going to use electric start later. I would .

Hubnut. For Gods sake put a underhood muffler on your C please. Nothing as ugly as a big old tin can looking thing sticking above your pretty hood. Enlarging the hole will not be necessary with a under hood muffler. All the vendors stock new ones.
Glad to have a few of my used parts in your first Allis project. Kenny

Got her fired up for the first time tonight!  No leaks so far--except a pinhole in the gas tank near the back belly.  I'll fix tomorrow with JBWeld.  She's only a hand cranker, so it took me about 10 cranks before she fired.  Oil pressure went immediately up.  I only ran her for about 5 minutes.  The fuel bowl was leaking too.  I've got a few more things to tidy up, then I should be able to test drive her.  Hopefully this weekend.  Thanks much to all members for the help and encouragement, but especially to Dick and Kenny for the help along the way.  I'll post some pics over the weekend of the completed tractor.

Got the carburetor on this evening and threw the hood and tank on to see what it looks like.  I bought a muffler, but the hood hole is too small for it.  Doh!  I still need to install about 5 items (including OIL) before I can start her up.

Chris,
Yes, they are.  I was waiting to reveal when I installed them.  You let the cat out of the bag.  I bought blue lettering for the hood.  I think it will really pop.
