I just got a new negative battery cable that is 00 gauge and cleaned all the contacts. I'm letting it charge and will try to jump it later

I had a '53 WD that the block had been replaced and it higher compression which made it turn over harder/slower especially if I stalled it under load. I put an 8 volt battery in it, that worked well, changed nothing else.

change the battery and the COIL at least... That makes it start easy.. Lights are no good... 6 v generator, if its good condition can normally keep a trickle charge on a 12 volt battery. If your generator is old , then go for a 12 volt gen, or a new alternator.

if you want CHEAP for initial use.... just take the wires off the generator and let it act as a belt tensioner......  you can charge the battery once a week with a shop charger.

normally if it was sealed, and now leaks at the hose fitting, its because the hose is getting old and cracked.. Could be the pipe is corroded or cracked, but normally it is the hose.  Dont try to rip the hose off, you could damage the pipe.. If you look close and see the hose leaking, then split the hose ontop of the pipe with a box cutter knife, and peal it off.. wire brush the tube by hand to get it cleaned up.

hunter, someone may have a piston and sleeve for a D12... If you do that you need to get EXACTLY the same piston. Make sure it is not aftermarket. all 4 must match is DESIGN and WEIGHT for a balanced motor .......... What is the plan ?  Are you putting new rings in the motor ?

hunter, the D12 started with a 138 cubic inch motor and ended up with the 149 inch motor... Give the guys the MOTOR serial number off the left rear corner of the motor, AND the diameter of the piston. ( to see if they are original)... then maybe someone can help you.

the motor bolts to the clutch/ bell housing... On the LEFT side, you should see the TRACTOR number on the bell housing flange, and the MOTOR number just in front of it on the motor edge.

the trouble is when you get AFTERMARKET, they normally give you a BIGGER BORE and BIGGER PISTON... Note that the links you have say " 3.5 inch OVERBORE".....  It would be better if you could find a  "good used" piston and liner that is the right DIAMETER... It will keep your motor better balanced and smooth running.

i would think someone on this site may have a stock piston and liner..  You need to get the serial number of the motor and piston bore

if you have a little beep- beep horn that only pulls 5 amps, you can use a push button and wire to the horn in series......... Most BIGGER horns might pull 10-15 amps and MOST button switches cant handle that much power... so you put a relay in the line.. A relay is similar to a starter solenoid... Your button puts power to a magnet, that pulls in a coil and the coil moves a  copper bus that connects the TWO BIG WIRES that carry battery power to the horn...
