wd 45 DIESEL battery hook up

I have a WD 4 diesel with two 6 volt batteries and I'm not sure they are hooked correct. Need some help on this. Thanks

If you want to have 6 volts with DOUBLE the CURRENT, then you connect the two POSITIVE terminals together and ground them.. You connect the two NEGATIVE terminals together and run that to the starter..  ( 6 volt positive ground system). ( parallel connection)

If the batteries were connected to form 12 volts ( negative ground system)... then you GROUND one negative terminal on battery #1... you run the POSITIVE terminal of #1 to the NEGATIVE terminal on #2 battery.... you run the POSITIVE terminal on battery #2 to the starter..   (series connection)

so original was two 6 volt in series , or 12 VOLT.... but still Positive Ground..

Yes, positive ground and 12 volts. The D17 Diesel is that way too, two 6 volt batteries in series with positive ground.
