Just a guess but could the tube ends connect to the cultivator brackets on the axle like the rear tool bar does. Man thats a nice looking unit.

we had one just like that, it fit on about any tractor w/o a 3-pt, (before 3 pt's) it's missing the guide that one person would hold onto to to push it down and guide it straight. we finally made ours a 3 pt when we got a tractor with one.

Looks similar to the auger I bought last month, except mine was for a 3 pt. Same gearbox, pto shaft. Not sure what the brand is, no sign or p/n even. Mine has a 12" bit. Hit a rock with it on the fifth hole and something broke in the gearbox. Have to take it apart one of these days.....
cheers,
Creek

WKPOOR - I wondered as you did that maybe the tube end could be pinned to the cultivator brackets and I might still try that, but I think that the PHD probably should have came with some brackets to attach to tractor. We did try to attach to the drawbar bail brace pin but the flatened tube end hit the final drive housing.
SHAMELESS - The guide handle you speak of, would it be something like a 1/2" water pipe? What about would the length of the handle? I know there is a hole for it and a set screw to keep it in place. Thanks guys, Mike

Mine's about 4 feet long, made of heavy wall tubing. You don't want to be close to that baby when it is spinning 'cause it turns fast.
I'll see if I can take a pic of mine and post it for you.
cheers,
Creek

The post hole digger in the photos was sold by Tractor Supply Co. back in the '60s when they actually had tractor & farm supplies . The mounting brackets were an assortment of angle and strap iron . If I remember correctly, one of the straps used a rear fender bracket bolt . It's been 50 years, that is all I remember about it. Have a good day. Lanny |

yeah nooan..should have a pipe sticking out the back, and it should be about 4-5 ft long and should be heavy enough cuz sometimes you have to lift that digger outta the ground by hand! when digging with it, be prepared to run, as stated above, it'll turn fast, and if it hits something it'll twist one way or the other, knocking that pipe into you! until you get onto it, if there's 2 on you, only hold on to the pipe with one hand to guide it. we also had a piece of angle iron that bolted to the bottom of the long arms so we could mount it on or IH "h" brawbar, there were several straps and angle irons for mounting on diff tractors. dad always made us use that thing,,,shucks by the time we had it mounted and dismounted on anything, we could have dug 20-30 holes by hand!! hope this helps ya...be safe!

Thanks for all the helpful information, it's much appreciated. I've never used one before, so the safety tips hopefully will keep me from getting beat up. Thanks again, Mike
