I was given an 80-R3 mower that previous owner didn't need. It had been sitting around outside for years. My first project on it is to change the ujoints. Been talking to 2 different AGCO dealers. One says one size, the other says there is 2 sizes, depending on the shaft, a normal use or a heavy duty use shaft. My questions for now are, is there 2 styles of shaft and how do I tell the difference. Thanks

welcome to forum. put a picture on here. Think the heavy duty was for if you were going to tow a hay conditioner behind mower.

Measure the size of the cross. Diameter of cups, and outside to outside of cups, that will tell you the size. HTH Tracy

There's the pic of shaft parts. The solid piece (slides to PTO) is approx. 11/16x13/16. The hollow (mower) piece is approx. 1 3/16 x 1 1/16, wall thickness 1/8. Working non other measurement.

You may have to get a bit more sophisticated with your measurements. Measure with micrometer to get correct u-joint.

These were the only recognizable symbols on the body of either u-joint. The other joint had Made in USA 24 on the end of the cap |

Take the whole thing to your local NAPA store. If its like ours, they will measure up everything and have you going asap. Buy the better grade u joints. Their cheep ones are Chinese made.

I did give that a try, but I they couldn't find one that matched the groove for the retaining clip.

Thanks to all for the great advice so far. Alvin are those AGCO stock numbers or can I take them to other places such as auto parts store. Closest AGCO dealer is an hour away and their hours don't match well with mine. Again thanks to all.

Got the ujoints. one fit real nice, real easy. Other one a bear to get in and ended up ruining it. Replaced it, cleaned yokes up good but was still difficult to get in, but it's done. Got it hooked to the tractor but I'm doing something wrong. Whole thing sits crooked and pivots in toward tractor when lifted. Guessing to fix crooked I have to lengthen the lower left link. Don't see how to get the pivot out
