| Pulled grandpa's ca out and thought we only needed a wiring harness. We found out it was stuck, so let her set with somemarvels mistery oil. Yesterday we decided to pull the oil pan to see if it was bad inside and its terrible. Everything is rusted together. Engine will have to come out because we r afraid tue bearings are rusted to the crank. So thats our situation. What the best place to block, and are we going to find any surprises trying to split the tractor? |

if its as bad as you say, block it under the bell housing and start taking apart from the front end, radiator, etc. back to the clutch, you're going to need to anyway as it sounds like everything will have to be gone thru.

| Yea it sucks because of the more money, but another project will be fun. It won't let me post a picture from the phone, but when we drained the crankcase last week it was like 80% muddy looking water and 20% white sludge. |

| Block it under the torque tube and under the hitch. its alot of blocking so I Nail the blocks together with pole barn spikes. lift the front with a cherry picker and remove the whole front bolster as one piece roll it out of the way. than just remove the engine from the bellhousing. once you pull the clutch and put it on an engine stand its easy to work on. |

There was someone one here a week or two ago who had a rebuilt CA engine for $500. Think it was in Illinois somewhere. If I had the money I would have bought it already to speed up my CA project. If you find a running engine then you just need to do an engine swap. That can be done in a day or less typically. ------------- Can't fix stupid |

It all depends on what you have to work with. How I do them. I know the rear is not the same as the B or C But I still lift the rear tires just off the floor with two jack stands or blocks on the CA. Then block under the torque tube which gives you a solid foundation. I can then remove everything attached to the front.    I use an bracket attached to the bolts thru the valve cover and lift to the engine stand with an engine lift.
