I have a row on my 430 head that pools ears at the top of the gathering chain, just before the auger. I notice that they will pile up until they eventually fall back into the auger, sometimes I have to push the clutch in and stop to let the chains attempt to clean them out. The chains seem to be set fine, and I notice often there is stalk trash hanging up in the slot that seems to catch ears or not allow them to slide back smoothly. Any tips or ideas are appreciated on how to remedy this. All other rows are fine.

Compare the spacing of the stripper plates between rows that work and the one that doesn't work. Stripper plate width needs to be 1/8" wider at the REAR compared to the front.

The blades on rollers get worn can cause that. Stripper plates get worn at back also. The cut off at the back gets rounded, letting stock go past end of rollers and hanging up. I would guess the blades on rollers are not pulling the stock down because or ware. MACK

I check the width of my stripper plates every year before beginning the crop, any time that my head does this it is the blades on the rolls. I keep a couple extra sets around because if the ears start pooling there you are shelling a lot of corn and losing it.
