Hey all,

We are looking around for a forklift, and Allis Chalmers 706 and 708 Forklifts seem to be high priced.

we have noticed over the years the Ingersoll Rand Forklifts use the same model number and are similar in appearance to the Allis forklifts, so I was wondering what the connection was? Did Ingersoll Rand buy the forklift division from Allis? If so, how much do they have in common?

any input appreciated,

thanks!

Yes - When the forklift div, small loaders, industrial, backhoe div was put up for sale it first went to CDS ( i believe that is right name ) then was bought by IR .

how long did CDS own the line? did they make many changes? how many other changes did IR make?

thanks for the info! an IR forklift is looking alot more appealing now. :)

Not much change - seems they acted more of holding company for a few years - somehow I believe Minnpar was involved also in deal .
Small and medium loader line went CDS - larger things went to FIAT , the 715 TLB was built with Cummins engine instead of Perkins . Unsure of what happened in material handling div as far as changes .
