The temperature gauge, sending unit, and connecting wire looks complete. However, it has not worked since I owned this machine (several years).  What is the best way to check out the circuit to see which component is not working?

Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

on an electric gauge.  check your connections to make sure your gauge is getting voltage.   probably 12V to one side.  the opposite side should go to the sender, try removeing the sender wire and grounding it.  It should peg up or down depending on how its set up, if not probably the gauge is bad or its not getting voltage, or sender wire is bad.  if it moves your sender is bad

The HD5 used a mechanical temp gauge,  I used a IH gauge that i found at the right price to replace my AC non working one.
