That was just awesome!!!!! That sound is like no other. Had a D 21 that pulled up here in WA state in the 80's called "High Energy" Tractor originally built by Gordan Wally out of Prince George BC. Then Don Smith here in Lynden, then, Now owned by Alan VanDeZandum in Banks Oregon. Tried to get him to bring this summer to the GOTO here in Lynden, but tractor was tore apart. I used to flag for that tractor on the track and what a rush when that thing is coming at you.  Thanks for sharing Coke!! Darryl in Lynden WA. ------------- B 10 Custom. | In the mid to late 70's, in mid Michigan there was a guy, I believe his last name was Potter and he was from Ithaca, Michigan that also built a couple of pulling tractors that he powered with Allison engines. Just hearing that sound brought back some memories of when those tractors would hook up to the pulling sled and then be cut loose. Potter would put on a set of ear muffs, a hush would fall over the crowd, that Allison would get ignited, flames in the air, a dust storm off the back tires until forward movement stopped, then silence. Potter's tractors were not as beautiful as that Moline, as typically they looked like a pair of pieces of heavy channel iron to which the engine was mounted to with a monster pair of tractor tires on one end and a set of undersized, over stressed steering wheels on the front. Hand painted about midway down the channel iron "Ugly Tractor #1". First time I saw him pull, I thought he was taking the pulling sled air borne as that was the fastest I had ever seen a pulling sled go. Seems like he almost jack-knifed trying to get things stopped in front of the Ionia Free Fair Grandstand. I've heard from others, that back in the day Potter worked at powering a motorcycle with a V-8. More Power...awesome |

One like that used to pull at the Stephenson county, Illinois fair, I think it may have been that one, that was back when the hotrod class was just starting. He pulled against inverted F20's with V-8s in them Whupped'em all badly.

| That tractor is Dan Nolans tractor, pulled a lot in the 70's, pretty sure he was close with the Bends who had the Allison team molines. Cool piece of pulling history right there! |

Many years ago (late 70's or early 80's), I was at the Farm Progress Show near Peoria, IL. There was a tractor pull at the Peoria fairgrounds on night that I and a few other AC people went to. There was a custom, hot rod tractor there with 2 Allison's canted and side by side. Hey snowman, I remember those EJ Potter tractors at the Silverdome years ago. He had one called "Double Ugly" also. Not much on looks, but they usually ran good. He did have some hopped up motorcycle also....wish I could buy those Allison's as cheap as they did years ago, nothing sounds better than those aircraft engines. There is a guy pulling OSTPA with a tractor called the "Radical Ranger" It looks like Allisons, but they are Ranger engines ------------- '40 WC puller,'50 WD puller,'50 M puller '65 770 Ollie *ALLIS EXPRESS contact* I can explain it to you, BUT I cannot understand it for you!! |

| That even looks factory. They did a great job. I like the nf on it as well. Make you want a 190 nf outfitted with the AC V12. Maybe a D21 powered with a Detroit V12. |

| I remember seeing one like that in about 1975 or 1976. Dad had a Two-Twenty we pulled around east & central Illinois (some into Indiana) in the 12,000 lb. "stock" class. Those Allison's were always fun to watch. |

Bill Newlon I think is the name of the guy who ran it back in the 70's. This video is from this summer, they got the tractor bought, and completely rebuilt it in just a few months. I'm sure it's much nicer now than when it was originally built. They did re-engineer a few questionable components. They just got it done in time for the half centry farm progress show at rantoul this past summer. They had it at morrison IL this August since that's one of the places Bill pulled it back in the day I guess. I think he was from prophetstown IL?

I pitted with Gord in Edmonton with his 2 Allison tractor have some pics but have not figured on how to post them. That was in the mid eighties. lost track of what ore where he is hiding now Al |
